Front seats in Subaru???

Hey everyone,
WHo knows why my front seats in my 96 Series Mcrae have got the little levers which allow you to push forward the seats, ie like a 2 door car?? There leather so I presume they are not proper seats and I have been told they look similar to Escort cossie
: seats, but I dont mind cos there comfurtable!! 
Anyone else seen or heard of this spectacular occurance??
