Will US Playstation2 work here?

When I bought my DVD player all the conversion equipment (basically a power transformer) was supplied.
With regard to getting a US PS, why bother as the strategy games are harder for the UK market.
Though Tekken 3 on NTSC makes a total mockery of the PAL version.

2 things to watch for Sunil, as with anything video related bought from the US, make sure your TV will show NTSC pictures, and also you may require a 240 to 110 volt converter, other than that it should work no problem.

Doesnt the current PSX have region lock outs ie UK machines cant play US games & vice-versa. Okay the PIC chip gets over this but I would think Sony will design this out on the PSX2. So if Im right the US machine might only play US games.
When I bought my copy of GT2 from Electronics Boutique, they were taking deposits for a small number of PSX2's for pre-Xmas delivery.

No mate, don't do it.
certainly the different voltage is an easily overcome issue, but the worry is that you will only be able to play US titles.
ok we can overcome normal DVD zone-ing technologies, but I'm sure that sony will have invested a lot of time/money in anti-piracy DVD techniques which are also tied up with zones.
not worth the hassle, unless you like throwing away money..hey what am i saying..its you after all..buy buy buy

Personally, I think it's gonna come down to money. If you can afford the extra money for the console itself, and then the extra cost of the games (going by the current price of PSX import games) then go for it.
You may of course have the benefit of getting the majority of games before the rest of us, but if/when the on-line gaming is brought out you could be in the situation of not being able to take advantage of it, much like the people who got US/Jap dreamcasts who supposedly can't use them on-line over here.
