What Price the MOT?
#1
Ok I am a sad individual, so I read my local rag. Over the last few weeks I've been paying special attention to the news from the local Magistrates Courts and guess what, the average fine for driving with no insurance seems to be £300, and guess what else, in all cases where there is no insurance and no MOT, there is no additional fine for driving without an MOT.
In the one case where there was a fine for driving without an MOT it was £100 no endorsements. Damned cheaper than the £250 I just paid to get my station car through it's MOT.
When oh when will the punishment fit the crime when it comes to motoring.

Doesnt it just pi55 you off.
I seem to remember reading a report quoting that 10% of drivers have no insurance, as even if they get caught, it is still considerably cheaper for them !!
Something really needs to be done !!

An article about the MOT in the Daily Telegraph June 30th motoring supplement quoted a police inspector from Thames Valley Berkshire traffic as saying, " ....we work from the three main causes of road casualties - inappropriate speed, not wearing a seatbelt and drink driving." As for MOT certificates, "Police officers don't go looking for them. It's certainly not top of our priorities."
Having said that mine only cost me 20 quid.
