Cool

Just had an interesting run in with an Audi TT. It passed me casually on a dual carriageway and I pulled out behind it to pass slower moving traffic whereupon it took off. I'm guessing that he/she wanted to see if the imp could keep up. I'm pleased to report it can do just that!

We turned off on the same roundabout and both aimed to take the third exit. The TT took off again, I suppose the driver wanted a demonstration of how grippy the imp is. I was surprised at how much more grip I appeared to have over the TT. Hoorah!

I'm not normally given to boy racer tactics but I had to find it out. The TT looks nice from the front though.

Wink

You are forgetting the skills of the other driver. You might be nice and smooth, and the other driver ham fisted and taking a car unbalanced into the corner.

My now old S3 (which is basically a TT) was pretty similar in Grip to the Scooby. In fact it felt like it had more. The major difference being the feedback the Scooby gives on the limit. I have a couple of times done a back to back drive with my Scooby and S3 (wondering which one to sell). You can feel it with the Steering wheel. The TT is your bum. I took the S3 round Donnington and was supprised how much grip it had. Previously I'd gone round in Scoobies.

I'd just content yourself with being a better driver

A good friend of mine has a TT coupe (previously an Impreza and Boxster) and he and I have had plenty of fun in the past comparing our cars. The Impreza I was driving had a slight power and handling advantage which was clearly evident, yet it seemed his car had slightly more grip at high speed due to the 17inch wheels and sticky tyres. My tyres were near the end of their life at this point. Never got a chance to compare them in the wet sadly.

Jason,
He may not have been trying to race you. He was probably just late for a hairdressing appointment.

It's funny how people seem to respond to different cars on the road.

When I'm driving the Impreza all manner of cars want to race it (the latest being a Citroen AX). When Clare's driving it she's get odd looks from other drivers like "A woman shouldn't be driving that kind of car".

In Clare's Clio (16v) other drivers expect it to be slow and definitely drive more aggresively around it. Clare was the victim of an elderly Road Rager yesterday who apparently got the hump because she was faster than his Mondeo....T0$$ER!

I would'nt follow a TT at high speed in case it swapped ends rapidly in front of me.... now that would test the Impreza's handling
