Guys,
I have spent a long time studying Marital Arts/Self Defence..Have now been studying for approx 22 years and also teach in my spare time. If you have any specific questions or would be interested in discussing it further then please feel free to mail me.

The wisest action is always to run or if outnumbered to hand over the keys..However some of us just do not have it in us to hand over the keys to something we have worked hard for. I train in a very pratical art and we work on modern applications including resiting car jacking attempts. If anyone wants further info..mail me.

last comment :

Think like a man of action, act like a man of thought..

lol at bravo (desert eagle rules)

seriously, do any of you remember the farmer who got sent down for shooting that kid who was robbing his house!!!!
good on him i say, laws are all wrong, they protect the guilty, and leave us innocent ones to pick up the pieces,
heres another story, a friend of my mums went home during her dinner hour, heard someone in the house, shouted "hello" then heard a crash..
the burglar had tried to escape down the drainpipe, the drainpipe had given way and he fell through the conservatory....

heres the best bit....

he sued her!!!!!

and won!!!!!

(true story)

Thanks for all of your comments guys, especially the web address with the "tools"

cheers
gaz

After reading the 205 car jacking thread, and various others, I just wondered, how far can you actually go with regards trying to defend yourself.(someone mentioned a stoplock) Surely it must be like using self defence when someone breaks into your house...
Its just that most people would probably have a go at stopping them, unless a gun was involved.
So come on, what is the legal stance - the police cant do anything so what can we do?

To be frank with you, id just give them the keys, better than to be kicked to death
but i believe that the MINIMUM force necessary (ie if your a blackbelt at karate etc you cant really go too far, just break an arm or 2 )

apparently, you can use "reasonable" force to either restrain someone or escape their clutches!!

which loosely means, if you fear for your life, whack someone in the moosh with a krooklock and then leg-it to the old bill station and plead your case!!!

they will look favorably at the, clean smartly dressed person with an expensive polished car, so do not fret!!!

Just don't shoot them...

When the ******* jump you from behind with a cosh as you're getting into your car, it's pretty hard to fight back, speaking from experience. Best bet is to get an anti hijack system on the car, so if they get it, they get 30 seconds with it max. I guess all you scooby owners must have trackers fitted anyway, I couldn't get an insurance quote for a scooby without a tracker.

only joking with the shooting part.

I just think that its terrible that people have to worry about where and when they drive their cars, its like dick turpin all over again.
(except he was probably tame compared to these ba*tards)

you can do anything you like as long as you can JUSTIFY your actions and the way you defended yourself meaning if he just asks you to get out your car you cant just hit him straight away you have to be threatened with violence or such like to retaliate. you know what i mean just not very good at explaining. Beacuse if it went to court they would ask why he has a broken nose or something and you would have to JUSTIFY why that is and was it reasonable to what he was doing to you.

Under Sec 3 (I think) of common law you have the lawful right to take the first bash, so to speak. As previously mentioned you will have to justify yourself and that is a whole different ball game nowadays in court. But the law states you can and it is for you to put you case across in court.

For example man coming at your car say with iron bar and you fear (truthfully) that you are going to get seriously hurt or another person will if you do nothing then you may take reasonable steps to defend yourself. The level of threat may decide your appropriate force

The same law for you and I is used by the police. There is no difference whatsoever. Another power gives police permission to carry their appointments but to use them requires the same law and justification as us.

DO NOT CARRY CS GAS some types are classed as offences under the firearms act .You don’t want to go there

I think the best thing to do was what someone recommended to me..
If you catch someone breaking into your car/house & you catch them, beat them to within an inch of their life, then drag them away for your house/car & walk away.
If you get a come back from the police just deny all knowledge of anyone trying to steal your car/break into your house.
Jobs a good-un

Dont know if its legal but sounds good eh!

Wink

Just throw your keys as far away as you can...preferably into hedge/bushes/river etc. Make sure you always carry a spare like I do (non-remote).

The law tends to cater towards the preception of the person having the gun pointed at them.

Even a replica can look real.

so, yes.

and CS is a Sec 5 Firearm

Ever had a replica pointed at you? If you do you will understand why the law is the way it is.

A good kicking maybe for the slag, some traditional punishment but guns no way. Slippery slope to a scary situation.
