The Nick Wild Tribute
#1
A few of you may know we were planning a tribute to Nick.
Well the event is now organised. There will be a Charity Gala Evening at Belle Vue Stadium On October the 7th in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.
OK it's mot F1 or WRC but 20 cars on an oval shale circuit should be entertaining. We already have a ladies team & an SIDC team organised an we are expecting Manchester Traffic Division to send some of their finest subject to the Chief Constables OK.
We have also asked along a few firemen just for 'Chell. Generally just a fun evening with some Reliant Robin Racing, the regular banger drivers will be there to show us how it all done but the hightlight of the evening will be the Charity Team Race.
Which I am assured will include a Scoob
We have enlisted a number of sponsors includion the local dealers AND Prodrive so the planned charity auction should have some
interesting items.
An arcade style Grang Tourismo Tournament will be staged during the so get praticing.
Racing 6.30 till 9.30 followed by late bar and disco. Should be a really good night out with All the proceeds donated to charity.
We had 40 Scoobs at the funeral, how abot filling the car park this time al la Big One?

Its Manchester, there is a hotel (new one built for the commonweath games) just down the road but Belle Vue is basically between Denton and Ardwick (its on the A57) so if you look at your map of the UK, find the M60 ring road around Manchester and look for the Denton junction, then follow that into Manchester center, Belle Vue is about 3 miles off the Motorway.
Tony
PS there is also a travel lodge just off the Denton turn off BTW, its out of the way and out of sight of prying eyes if your worried about where to keep your car

Banshi,
Banger racing and car crashing. Just up my street, if you know what I mean.
I'm sure Nicks family will be touched that you have taken the time to organise this event, and managed to generate such levels of interest within the Subaru associated companies/dealers.
One more attendee here.
Cheers MTR

I'll be there (obviously)
so come on everyone, let's support Banshi and turn out in droves, he's done an unbelieveable amount of organising for this. You try sourcing 20 bangers and then get them ready and safe to race (no glass etc)!
Lets make this a biggy!
Cheers

a word of advice from a local - belle view is not one of the nicer parts of manchester. If I had a scoob i would not dream of parking it up around there, check the local hotels for secure parking, or take the wife's clio.
You have been warned.
nice idea with the tribute/fund raising though.no offence to fellow mancs, everywhere has it's bad spots, but i think it's only fair to let people know belle view and the surrounding areas are somewhat dodgy.

Mr Manc,
sincere apologies, i admit my views on the surrounding areas of belle view are based on either visiting mates/colleages, working there, or passing through. I had a workmate who lived in droylsden and he was as dodgy as they come, and he lived in a dump of a house in a scruffy part of droylesden. at the time the place struck me as the pits, you have a valid point as you live there.
I also used to get weed from some travellers that were parked up in hulme. the guys were ok, but it was always nerve racking driving round hulme with an ounce in your pocket.
iv'e been to miles platting to buy fishing tackle from a loot advert, and would not choose to go back.
I honestly didn't mean to cause any offence, though i realise i have, and could have phrased it better. you have to admit that the area around the venue in question can be a bit ropey, and that was my point.
they don't call it gunchester for nothing do they.
again, apologies,
mj

Just a quick call in from the Costa, back from the beach and Telephonica have actually got the connection up
Good to see the interest, sorry my hos resulted in poor feedback folks but Iīm home at the weekend and will correct that.
John. I still owe you so Iīm try and get you behind the wheel. Anyway it will be nice to see how you make out with some mundane machinery
Chell, Mr S suggested you join the ladies team when we were in Wales, donīt you fancy a little close contact with a men in uniform
On the security issue. No itīs not the best location in the world but we have previously organised events nearby without any problems. Thatīs no guarantee of course and Iīll have a chat with the organisers and see what can be done.

cheers, i did one banger race back in 1989, something like that. I was driving a cortina estate with a welded rear diff. Tonnes of fun, power slide it or crash into the barriers with terminal understeer was the handling.
It would be fun to have another go.
