Question

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I'm very interested in buying a scobby, but I've never driven one. I was thinking of hiring one for the weekend. Can this be done? and if so does anyone know who I can go to.

Thanks
Rafel

There are places that do it - have a look for ads in the back of Top Gear magazine.

Why not just get a test drive at a dealer?

Well I wanted to hire it for a weekend so as I can really test it without a salesman looking over my shoulder.

Be very careful using these "specialist" companies which allow you to hire this type of car for weekends.
Your thousand pound deposit will be seriously dented by so much as a stone chip or scrubbed tyre.
I would suggest taking pictures of the vehicle BEFORE you take it out for the weekend.

I remember watchdog doing a feature on one of these hire companies, they rented a BMW and drove it round the corner onto an AA low loader, they stuck it on a rolling road and put a few hundred miles on it. They then took it back for the company to find numerous chips, dents etc and stung them for their deposit. Nice.
WRT hiring, the following company used to hire WRX STis but do not seem to anymore, maybe they can suggest someone who does:

Raf,

I remember reading in Max Power, (I just bought it for a Wheels review, honest) that there is a place that rents out STI's for 24hrs, I think it was somewhere in Nottingham. It was pretty reasonable, £120 during the week and more at the weekends.

Thats all I can remember, perhaps give MP a bell for more info if you are interested.

Cheers,

R
