Ford Escort RS Turbo

davesrsturbo,
What's the actual power output (as you mention running in I presume it's not been on a rolling road yet)?
And what does the car look like - standard or huge mods. Quite like the idea of an RS Turbo which looks completely standard but has a shedload more power.
Mind you, I bet it still doesn't handle ..... and it's still an Escort!

Dave,
I'm sure most of us are aware that a very well modified Escort RS Turbo can be significantly faster than a standard Impreza turbo in a stright line, once you can get the wheelspin under control. It's all to do with power to weight ratio, and transmission losses.
With an estimated 260bhp (see

Sorry, but so what if you beat a Scoob ?
How much has been spent on your car to get it to the spec its at ?
I notice from the RSOC board you have just spent even more on it at PE, fifth injector and camshaft change, and another rolling road tune?
I have a lot of respect for Mike, but the attitude of some of the RSOC's other members towards other cars leaves a bit to be desired !

Nick F,
The power output once run in and set up to optimum boost, should see around about the 260 + mark
Im afraid i cant give you a figure at the moment. It went in on a 1600 with 202brake though.
Looks wise its all standard 90 spec stuff, clear indicators and that, but with 17's and avo coilovers
Your right handling is not so hot, but its only FWD
Dave
(yes its still only an escort)

Dave,
If you want to know why my "deja vu" comment, check out the RSOC thread that I have kindly put to the top of the board for you.
Might take a few days for you to read (the Scooby BBS longest ever thread!), but makes for a laugh
By the way front wheel drive is for girls....
LOL
Mike

Maybe I should post on the RS BBS every time I spank a Go-Faster Ford. Better tell the RS Webmaster to upgrade his server - more memory/hard disk space required
Seriously though, most Scoob driver don't go out with the intent of racing everything in sight. I quite regually get roasted away from the lights by superminis and transit vans. I may have a toy with an M3 or TVR, but not an Escort RS - its like pitting a racehorse against a donkey. Running at just 12psi you wouldn't have had a chanve against any Scoob driver that was trying. He was probably just laughing at you .

Apologies then
The car came back days ago but has to go back this sat for a set up (one of many)
so yes it is very much in the "running in " process.
Look apologies everyone, i truely do want to find out about specs/tuning etc on these cars. Im not slagging them off with intent. I think they're all amazing cars and honestly nothing cacks you up more than seeing two vents and a scoop in your rear mirror...
Its not a matter AT ALL of whos car is better than whos. I just like the challenge of modifying a car beyond set boundaries.
If ive jumped on anyones toes then again i apologise.
One thing i would like someone to explain to me. Is the HKS Super blow off valve??
what are the differences to a standard D-Valve

Dave,
From what I understand the HKS BOV is sequential, which means it only vents to atmosphere the correct ammount of pressure, depending on boost, not an on/off action !
Sounds nice anyway!

Sounds cool.
I swear i saw a HKS blow of valve for an RST with a modified charge carier to attatch it to. Is the sound distinctivley different? Ive got an electronic GpA D-Vale and its amazingly loud, but just the normal tsssh
HKS do some great gear, i recently bought one of there turbo timers. Apart from the instructions being in japanese, a wicked bit of kit!!!

On high boost, the HKS SQBOV can be VERY loud from outside the car.......passing this guy on a push bike I dumped from second to third gear with the windows wound down going through an underpass in Bristol. The poor bloke nearly fell off his bike. Ear-splittingly loud. Never again !!!

nice one, i must admit, i too have made a few old dears drop there shopping bags as i go past. The funniest was when i was at one end of a high street, cained 1st to 2nd, when it dumped a bloke from at least 150 metres away screamed "look out", grabbed his wife and launched themselves across the road. I trundeled past him 3 minutes later wetting my pants with laughter. The diaphram split once so no D-Valve and i was lost with out it, it almost made driving the thing boring....

No need for abuse, I just hate it when scoobs decide to show me there bonnet scoops in my rear mirror. It seems whenever a scoob is around, they get drawn to race me. Im just letting you know that one was trounced last night. Come on then guys knives and forks at the ready, i know ive just stumbled in to the lions den!!!!

i must apologise for my poor explanation
A scoob impreza
AWD/4WD whatever they are,i couldnt really pay much attention to what was written on the back because... well ... i was in front and could only see a slight silver blob in my rear view mirror....
i though id get more abuse than this. Sorry lads i was feeling adventrous (mis-spelled) and thought id wander from RSOC to Scoobynet

Could it have been that the Scoob just didn't bother, knowing he would leave you in a trail of exhaust fumes if so desired? After all, if you overtook a Lamborghini, would you assume you had a better/faster car?
Actually, are you sure it wasn't just parked?

Wigwam,
The spec is (and yes everyone, i know a standard scoob puts out just above this, but its the attainment factor of acheiving above the standard 132 brake)
1905cc Low comp
Forged Mahle pistons
GpA copper Head Gasket
Ford Motorsport Chip
High Lift Cam + Vernier
K&N 57i
Pace ChargeCooler
Stage 3 cylinder head
TD Centrifugal Ball Bearing T3 Hybrid Turbo
MAgnex
Electronic Dump valve
Racelogics Traction Control
Still running in on 12 psi
After run in period, boost to be wound up to 22

Stop wasting everyones time/money with this drivel.
Webmaster - I thought posts like this should be banned.
Sod off back to wherever you came from - At least Mike adds his experience to this list - not drags it into the MAX Power gutter
For what its worth - I will let a crappy little XR whatever "spank" me if I feel the conditions/location isn't suitable for a bit of fun.
Whatever.
Ro.
PS - Its always the people with the smallest stick that shout the loadest.
