Right thats it. Here and now I am starting a full on hate campaign against BRAKE. They think that they are the be all and end all for drivers and they are wrong. Like their the "voice of the motorist" or something. God it pisses me off that they have the arrogance to assume that as their voice is the voice of "reason" (in their twisted view) and as they have the moral high ground they can preach to us all.
The worst part about it is that the media actually listen to these ****$!!!
The acidic e-mail is going off now.
Who's with me?
astraboy.

I'm with ya!
I live in Northampton, one of the areas new speed camera technology gets trialed before the rest of country is lumbered with it.
A new speed camera went up on my root to work a couple of weeks ago. One one side of the road it's all open and on the other there are loads of trees. Guess which side the camera is on?... yes that's right the side with the trees. If you approach it it's so difficult to see until it's too late.
What also gets my rage boiling is these "safety camera vans". Northampton has 3 I think. Every morning they are driven and positioned to catch people speeding on the dual carridgeways not the accident black spots throughout the county. If this isn't a blatent attempt to get more fines I don't know what is.
All I can say is thank the stars for my BEL990i radar/laser detector.
Matt

Well Neil its a problem. I have BRAKE's email addy here and I'm in the process of preparing the vitriolic email now.
Should I post the addy up on the bbs and tell everone to get spamming? or would that land SDB in the ****? Cos much as I hate BRAKE I dont want to get Mr. DB in trouble. What does everyone think?
astraboy.
*I HATE BRAKE*

Yes heard this, can't believe it though. Who are they asking????? Bonkers.
No issues outside schools and blackspots etc but the rest are just cash dispensers. Not just for the police/gov whoever, but the ins industry who relish another opportunity to bleed us dry. Makes me seethe.

I've just read the text on their website. It seems like they have a fairly balanced attitiude. They are not giving the blanket "Speed Kills" message..

Brake promotes safe use of roads by addressing the skills and attitudes of road users, enforcement of traffic rules and appropriate punishment and education of road users who break the law.

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:<HR>
Things do not happen suddenly to good drivers because the expect the unexpected. It is your job as a driver to expect other road users to get in your way and ensure you can stop in time when they do. The consequences of not doing this are fatal.
Drive at a speed and at a distance to other vehicles and pedestrians which enables you to fully concentrate and spot all dangers in time to avoid a crash. If you hit a pedestrian you stand a 90% chance of killing him or her at 40mph, but a 10% chance at 20mph. A safe speed may be well below the limit on urban and rural roads.
Never overtake or pull out if there is even the slightest chance you may collide with something. Take the time to check twice and be sure that what you are about to do is absolutely 100% safe.

Nothing wrong with this in my book...
