my 96 turbo is due for a 60.000 service in a couple of weeks i dont want to go to quenby"S in baldock as they are major expensive has any one in a 40 mile region of stevenage in herts got any ideas or recomendations and previous prices you have paid

Hello robin, alan here, there's a place in St Albans, can't remember the name. I'm sure someone will post it.
I use Scoobysport, they're about 40 mins away in Basildon.

 

I've always gone to Lavender Hill in Enfield which isn't too far from you. Afraid I never got as far as the 60K service, the 45K cost about £350 plus VAT IIRC which included the cambelt change.

I think the place in St.Albans you are talking about is SCC Performance. I've never used them myself. My last service was at Scoobysport.

Not got that far yet but I hear TSL (although near Nottm) is pretty good. I personally wouldn't go to St Albans after a ludicrous quote on a downpipe fitting

 

You could give Tyres Northampton a go, if they're nearer than Scoobysport for you.

Suabru dealers for years, fair, the technicians stay the same and know their stuff, and competitive prices for a Subaru dealer

 

For main dealer servicing I've always used Lavender Hill (since I've been in Herts) - with no problems. Other alternative would be Scoobysport for an independent. As 'Flat 4x4' said Fenny Compton are also recommended. Sal's Dad's first Scoob came from there - always had good service (and it's a nice drive to get there as well )

can't find Lavender Hill dealership mentioned above on the Subaru web site (www.subaru.co.uk) as one of their dealers? Is it an official Subaru dealer? my 60k is coming up soon, and they seem reasonable...had a quote for 600 quid so far...not impressed!
