I have just acquired a standard WRX from a Japanese importers. My question is that if I should meet a close friend who drives a non modified MR2 turbo should I be concerned if I meet him at the traffic lights at the bottom of the local dual carriage way????

Like most of us Toyota's, you'll probably have the edge up to around 100ish, but then gearing and aerodyanmics will take over. Plus the MR2 has the typical problems of traction and RWD, but being mid-engined, it is a hell of a lot less severe than the Soop. (More weight over rear wheels y'see.) This is a race that could well be a case of who gets in front, stays in front. The start could well decide it, but you'll get an excellent start much more easily than he'll get a great start. Power is around the 220 mark, and Toyota lumps are always torquey.
