I'm researching car tracking devices, and have come across a new one called Carbug (http://www.carbug.co.uk)

It seems that most systems cost £499-£599 for a device which should alert the control centre if your car is pinched. (Those that require you to call them are a bit cheaper)

And then a £100-£130 a year monitoring fee.

These seem all a much of a muchness.

(The RAC one has the advantage that if you break down, they use the same GPS device to help find you).

ANYWAY.. This Carbug device is costlier (£680 + £100 a year) but it enables you to track your car yourself, 24-hours a day from your PC - even if it's not been pinched -- (Those mistrustful of their partners could even find out where they are !)

Anyone had any experience of the CarBug ?

I kinda like the idea of being able to track the location of my car, no matter where I am in the world.

By phoning them up I take it?

Also, did the price actually go up? I've not seen any revised information to that score and friend is looking at it for his motor.

Best of the lot is E Guard by Telematrix.

Sales: 0845 604 2022.

Very simple they install a secret button in the car which you must press once the car is started (u r reminded by a beep). If its not pressed and the car moves driven or trailered they contact you on your supplied phone numbers to notify you of its move. The car is on permanant watch once the car moves with out being disarmed.
