Had my car broken into again....it was done at 3.15am this morning.
They broke the drivers side door lock and managed to get the door open. This obviously set off my Alarm and Pager which I had fitted by Craig(craigamungos) and woke me up (as pager is in my room with me). I ran straight out the house but by then, they had driven off. Just found my drivers door still open.
Luckily the door lock they broke, was already broken from january as didnt bother having it fixed as knew it would only be done again, so there isnt any more damage than what there already was.

My mate called me the other day to tell me that his car was broken into overnight and that they stole......wait for it.....the drivers door! They broke in via the passenger door and left the CD player, golf clubs etc.........
The scenes of crime officer said that they had seen this before but not in this area (Warwickshire).

Sorry to hear of that Phil
My other halfs auntie lives in a small village near to us. She drives a bog standard Nova 5 door thing, and last year they stole her front grill no less than 5 times, and her headlights once.
Obviously it is the older Nova owners who want the new style front grills.
They also nicked her sons MK1 Escort, drove it about 3 miles, then poured water in to the petrol tank . They left a full crate of Stella on the back seat, and stole the air filter - strange

Realy sorry to hear this again Phil.
Is there any way you can get the car more secure on the drive? Barb wire the gates, security lights etc.
Never had to use Craigs pager system in anger but it sure gave me peace of mind, for the cost its got to be a top gizmo.

Pager cost about £60 fitted! worth every penny, now i have had to use it! i have it in my room all the time as its not always easy to hear my alarm go off if i'm in a deeeep sleep!!
Lee
car gets done over even when its on the drive, so there no advantage on where its parked! on the drive its more oth the way of neighbours OVER lOOKING it!
btw
i ran out in the rd just with mi Boxers on and my slip on trainers!!!!! lol + it was cold!
just been speaking to the neighbour down the road, he was up cus his baby was a wake (as they are at daft times) he said he heard a loud bang! (smashing the lock, i would have thought!) he said the alarm went off straight away! he looked out to see a car drive off!!!!
then me running out in mi Pants!!!! lol!!!! lol
they must have been after the car! as no radio's etc are left in there at all!

Sorry to hear about the car break in. We had a spate of them around here a few years back and it turned out to be the paper delivery boy.
Can I throw in a question - how many of you have garages but park on the drive? Where I live everyone has a garage, yet only 5% of residents put a car in them. We insist on buying a house with a garage, yet most people only use them for storing loads of junk while leaving a very nickable £25K+ motor on the drive.... why?

(with alarmed garage and a pager on the car alarm, etc.)

There a few models on the market, I've got the MicroScan model. It connected to a dedicated pager output on my alarm, but they can just as easily be connected to the siren output of most alarms. Pretty easy to fit, just 3 wires, positive, earth and siren trigger.
Like Salsa says, I got it after my Bro-in-laws was broken into outside the house in the dead of night, and in a sleepy haze it took us a few mins to realise which car it was as the basts had deacitivated the indicators.
Sorry to hear about it Salsa, since my bro-in-law and me got wheel clamps, we've had no trouble.
Cueball.

Listen lads, I'm serious about this.
I'm a criminal barrister and I dela with these guys every day. I also deal with the hard nuts who want your cars for armed robberies and ram-raiding. They know they are going inside for 12-14 years anyway, some of them for life, so GBH/ABH and burglary to get teh car is not a problem for them. They'll do whatever it takes to get the car. A couple of additional charges to the indictment is not going to mean much.
I know you probably know, but these people are hard-core and will stop at nothing, so if you're confronted, just give it up. They don't care about you or your family.
Hope that helps.

If some one try's to steal my car, regardless of how stupid they are, they are going to get a fright if I caught them. Probably put's me in the same league then, but it is worth fighting for, no?
It's not a problem for many of us either, GBH/ABH, only we have got more to loss, hence it's worth fighting for.

Phil,
At the end of the day there's only so much we can do to protect our cars. A pal of mine had a barrier dealock fitted to his S4 and when the scumbags found out they couldn't drive it away they slashed the leather seats, trashed the sound system and ended off smashing all the windows. Total cost of repair - £5,500 !!!
I once made the mistake of staying overnight at the NEC Metropole when I had my 5-door. The local scumbags punched the drivers door lock but coudn't get the vehicle away as it had a fuel cut-off. So they cleared out the contents (including the spare space-saver wheel - why???) and went off to steal someone elses Scooby (a guy who worked for the BBC).
I think I would risk having a go at anyone trying to nick my favourite toy and to hell with the legal consequences.
Ken

Dont want to put the ****s up you mate but 3:15 am ?????????
Obviously its not causal.
It was planned and they want your car.
Most steering wheel locks are crap. Remember they build Steering wheels these days to not scoop out your guts and dump them in the back seat if you crash. The wheel is soft. You can hacksaw through it in no time and just slide the thing off. Or make two cuts and remove it entirely you can still drive the car if there's enough wheel left. This is not buls*** I have seen the aftermath with my own eyes on my x-girlfrieds astra. The only good wheel locks cover most or all of the wheel.
If they come back they might go for the house.
As usual you have two choices fight or run.
Run = sell, hide or temporarily move the car
Fight = nuf said already above
