Hmm seems no one wants to answer you so i'll try to help ![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)
If you own a uk car, joining will get you a membership card that entitles you to 10% discount at Scooby main dealers and one or two aftermarket shops (import owners like me don't really get much chance to use it has been my experience when asking around, but i have used it to buy a part at a main dealer and a mid section from falkland performance).
The other question would be whether you intend to do any track days, if the answer is yes there are plenty of chances to do so.
I used to receive emails and post regarding these but this seems to have stopped following the arrival of the sidc site events page so i would recommend checking

Plantie - there's a regular Bracknell meet, and also one that starts from Winchester M3 services every now and then, so you should be able to meet other members without having to go too far.
I've saved the cost of membership many times over in servicing discounts on my car, and met a lot of good people from the SIDC, as well as Scoobynet. Check out the SIDC forums on their website too.
The magazine that you receive periodically (True Grip) is very well put together and always manages to contain interesting articles, certainly supplements my need for car related reading when Evo's been read.
SIDC track days seem to be very well organised fun events - I haven't driven at one yet, but have been a passenger / spectator at Donington and other venues - found this very useful to ask people dumb questions when I was looking to buy an Impreza.
Hope this helps,
Simon.

I'm with ptholt on this one.
The discount card is great, but only really if you;re a UK or euro import owner, not so good for us jap import owners.
If you're up for trackdays then you can't beat the SIDC, great places, great prices, and a really good track support unit (courtesty of Tyres Northampton - top chaps!)
