Elondan,
I am not really sure I would like to see it in the flesh first

Opinions from looking at picture, scoop to big, bumper O/K bonnet looks high, lights, well they are neither nor not classic nor bug prefer STi7 UK lights Bugeye

they would have done better IMHO to better the weight and power and handling and Put the WRC or STi bug eyes in

I would never buy a Std Bugeye till I tried the STi7 Handling and Power is ALL you can't see the lights flat out in the twisties

Yay some full size pics, nice one.
New lights look ok, though not as good as Morettes, IMO, and the new front bumper on the standard WRX looks a bit boring - though the STi one ain't bad.

reminds me a bit of the Hyundai Elantra. OMG. Especially the WRX.

It's obviously prettier, but less aggressive than the current STI IMHO.

Can't they make cars that also look the part? It's not about being pretty, it's about not being hideous while still meaning the business (like the Evos).

The EVOs,
give me a break the Evo VII looks like an econobox with a big wing, kinda like the civics that run around Israel with stolen Impreza spoiler.
This STI looks agressive and cool, much better than any EVO VII.
and it also has Suabaru's gimmic...

Yea, It looks really really cool in a very Hyundai-ish way..
"Look, I got over-designed!"

Just like the new Forester. Once again Subaru shares the same corporate identity with Hyundai. Flattering, heh?

(Edited to say that Mitsubishi has the same gimmik - only better..)

I'd be interested to see what the wagon version looks like. IMHO, I've always preferred the hatch over the 4 or coupe editions.

There's nothing more scary than looking in your rear mirror and seeing a couple of scoob lights (ok, 4 of them) creeping up on you, then overtaking and realising that you got burned by a lousy WAGON!

HAH!

So in the end I got me one. *cheese*

The new design is much more coherent than the current shape - much more unified. BUT the front lights are NOT a massive improvement and certainly don't look as good as morettes. The interior looks the same!!

No, this is great - clean lines, smooth styling, cohesive look to the Subaru family - I like it a lot.

Of course, tastes vary, but I really think this is spot on the money

I agree, it looks great, especially the sti, I can't believe anyone would prefer the bugeye to this.

I watched the video of the launch on MSN. If they would have launched this as the new age Impreza with out having released the bug eye then I think things would have been different. Still until they stop taking the psii out of there customers I wont be putting a deposit down.

The STI I like, not so sure on the WRX though the fog lamps look a bit naff IMHO also the spoiler on the WRX is still and the twin exhaust pipe would be the first thing to go .

I always think it's interesting to hear what kids have to say about things like this, as they don't have the same biased views we do.

My Son, who's 8, hated the bugeye, but loved Dave T-S's and Rum's STi 7s. He likes the STi 8, but with some reservations about the lights, and he thinks the back end is a bit boring. Funnily enough though, I think he summed up the front end quite well. He thinks it looks like a cross between my P1 and a Legacy, and I don't think he's too far off the mark.

Josh

PS Personally, I rather like it.

I'm still not totally convinced - now it looks like it came from one of the trying-too-hard Korean manufacturers. Maybe it'll look better in the metal, or it'll grow on me. I certainly don't hate it like I hated the bugeye when that first came out.

Anyone else noticed that they've used nasty bang-on wheel balancing weights on both cars? That would certainly be cause to send it back

A.

Looks like I'm not gonna get a momo wheel then (MY97->MY03 )

I like - and already it's growing on me - barely liked the bug eye, even with morettes

PS If you'd seen these piccies beforehand, you'd all be saying they were photoshopped (front fogs on WRX, one rear fog on SportWagon)

I LOVE the STi - liked the STi Prodrive (sorry Tony!!), but this is great - I will be looking for one next year

Like the 4dr Bugeye, the 5dr is holding the "****ty end of the stick" this time - looks horrendous!!!!

I've got a 5dr now, and I won't be changing to a new 5dr (maybe to a bug eye 5dr, but most probably a new 4dr.....)

In the words of Krusty the Klown...

"Me rikey velly much!!!!!!!"

Hey, hey, Kids!!!!

Personally I still think it looks crap, it looks like the new Vectra. Although the inside looks a lot nicer than my MY97.

They could of still done a lot lot better imo.
