So - WRX in Asia Pacific has 248bhp in standard trim.
UK WRX has 215bhp - tuned for the local conditions.
So, why is that the UK cars have a unique ECU - is this as it is from a different source?
Unlikely.
How about - if the UK ECU was the same (as in the same pin-out and fitting) as a the Asia-Pac ECUs then there would surely be an excellent market for A-P sourced ECUs as a very cheap upgrade from 215 to 248 bhp.
Oh, stop me I say, hasn't someone thougtht of that - oh, yes, it's the PPP.
See, I told you I was cynical

You may mock - but it's true.
For the first time the UK does NOT have the same fitting as the Asia-Pac ECUs.
Can anyone think of a valid reason?
Coming soon A-P ECUs and a converter loom - oh, and a defensive comment from that place on the M40!
Watch this space - or not

Thanks for the insight anyway Moray - must check out those LHD Jap cars - mmmmm, do you think they did a cheapo conversion on my STi to make it RHD?
