I always wave unless;
I'm holding on for dear life as I just found out there is a corner over that blind crest
I'm asleep on my way to work (Autopilot)
I have something more interesting which is currently keeping my attention
I didn't see you coming
I'm in the Focus

Fair enough sounds reasonable but what about the people who see ya, you wave and they look at you with disgust and ignore you!
Is it just me, I am I ugly??
Are they jealous??
What? still in the dark on this....

Perhaps not all Scooby drivers are the wavey sort - may never have heard of it or think it is sad etc etc. Whilst natural to you or I, others might find it like the bloke in Top Gear mag who had to drive a motorhome and was disgusted when fellow "enthusiasts" waved at him. Maybe these people never go over 2000rpm and so don't have a fixed giggle on their faces all the time?

One of things I was looking forward to doing when I got my first scoob was waving to others!!
Today was the first day to work in it and having thought up lots of places I "needed" to go (bank, chamber of commerce, stock up on coffee and sugar from Sainsbury's etc etc spent quite some time of my working day just driving around!!!
And then I spotted my first scoob of the day - a lovely sonic blue STI and not only did he wave but gave me a lovely smile too! It really made my day!!!!!

Used to wave from the (troublesome) TVR - but that was as much to catch any bits falling off the passing hand built brother, as much as a sign of 'good choice mate'!
I'm mean and don't wave - the Scoob ain't Exec club, it's boys club...and me a grown man too!!! Too many about...lovely!

I'm a waver and sometimes a flasher (oo-er!). And this is regardless of the car I'm in. So if you're waved at by a nutter in a grey volvo estate then it'll probably be me
I do get waves/flashes back as well, which is nice. Even seem to get flashes from drivers behind me, usually debadged 318i drivers, maybe they use the bling bling for the daily commute and have a scoob for fun, and they are letting me know they love scoobs too, or maybe it's for some other reason?

Non waver here!
Then again I have never seen anyone wave at me, probably because the only time I look at other drivers is at junctions - to try to make eye contact- old motorcycle habit.
Scoobys are not an exclusive car and I don't drive one to be part of a community, I drive one because I like it. I think waving to someone with the same type of car is a little sad.

depends on the spec round here, if i come across modded ones who look like they have a genuine interest in the car they seem to wave. rather than some country folk who bought them because they wanted a 4wd or got a good deal if they bought one with there trooper for the farm. had a funny one the other day, keed seeing this girl in a reddish blue turbo, alwayys waves and smiles, then saw her with her fella int car she just looked, he didnt wave so i just slid under the dash!

What is it with Derbyshire Scoob drivers? Theres a silver MY00, a sport and several WRX's in the vicinity of Belper and Ashbourne. I wave and just get a dirty look Maybe they don't expect a young scally like me to have a scoob??

I am becoming more reserved since I posted this topic as I have waved at people that clearly have no interest in waving back.
So I am know looking for some sort of eye contact and then wave!
But I am still definitely a Waver.

My missus is understanding and thinks its quite cool (I think she wants to buy a scoob just to wave!)
I also let Scoobs out of junctions or into lanes.
I would describe my self as a Scoobyteam Player!!!

I wave if I see the other Scoob in time . Bit disappointing when you don't get a response, especially the P1 (with cream leather seats) I pass regularly on the way to and from work X-(
Also tend to let Scoobs out of junctions.
But I've had 'club' cars ever since I've been driving so guess I am used to waving by now! lol

I agree with LEE P if the car looks like a farmers car, dare I say it 5 door, green, or old git driving then I don't wave until they do or you can feel a right Tw*t when they don't wave back.

It the same with Cossies. I let Scoobies and cossies out of junctions all the time , I usually get a wave or a nod and I reciprocate in mutual respect for each others cars.
Remember once I met me mate in his blue Escort Cossie and I was driving the Sierra. We were going down Egham high Street in opposite directions and we stopped there and then, bloking the road completely and had a chat! Not much horn blowing going on either, People just let us get on with it.

I will add my ten pence worth..
I drive my RA sedately to work and @ weekends for fun. I have found locally I get a wave or nod from drivers of imports ie STIs which I assume are driven by keen types . Other Impreza model drivers don't seem to wave but then again most around my way seem to be "farmers" -ouch!! (tongue firmly in cheek) However my car does sound a bit rude anyway and attracts admiration from all the MaxPower types, where as the country subaru drivers almost seem to turn their noses up a bit - probably my fevered imagination though!!

Its down to sheer numbers - its ok when the cars are reasonably rare (as scoobies once were, but are no more), but it gets a bit daft when there's loads of them.
The same thing exists in the biking world, although its even dafter there. Its fair enough to nod to someone if you're travelling through north scotland and havent seen anyone for days, but you see guys trying to nod to everyone on a sunday afternoon when there are literally hundreds of bikes streaming past - very very pointless. Then you get the "why does no-one nod" mails on the bike BB's - its because 50 bikes passed me in the opposite direction within 10 minutes... maybe its a ploy by chiropractors and physio's to drum up business ???

LOL - I used to believe that failure to nod at another biker would result in 6 points or something. Even during North West 200 weekend there might be 20000+ bikes on the roads, you will still get one who nods at everyone. Generally look like one of those little nodding dogs

Sheffield people dont wave much either.
There was a bloke the other night who gingerly lifted his hand off the wheel to acknowledge me, i didnt see him till it was nearly too late but tried to put in a nod in return.
I wasnt ready for it since no one else has bothered before.

Had my 01 for a week now, and I had a UK300 driver ignore me completely when I waved. A P1 driver on the other hand waved and flashed his lights and his passenger waved too.
I was surprised, I thought old model owners would ignore us bug-eyed lot. (the car that is, not me)

After reading previous threads about waving, I've become an avid waver - at Sports and Legacies too (I'd wave at a Brat, an SVX or even an XT but haven't seen any).
But I don't remember ANYONE waving back recently. I've not seen loads of Scoobs round my way, so I don't think it's because they're too common. Maybe I just look like I'm mad or something. I'm going to keep doing it though!

SOMEBODY WAVE AT ME!
I have a white Legacy Turbo and cover the south of England. Half the Impreza drivers I see don't even seem to clock the car.....some of the 'sportier' types do, though, but seem to be so surprised at seeing a "kiddie" behind the wheel of a Turbo-Taxi that they don't have time to wave back.
Other Legacy drivers look at you blankly for the most part.
The only exception I have found is the guy I saw in Purley...stopped in Traffic....and saw a legacy stopped going the other way.
I had just got my car back, and was grinning like a maniac. He smiled at me....he knew what I was thinking...I recognised it on him too.
everybody >>>>>> aaaaawwwwwwww <<<<<<<<
Nevertheless, I think your standard everyday scooby is a bit too common now...especially around Reading, where they are more common that Series 2 RS Turbos!
And if you wanna find a WEIRDO group of drivers.....Corrado VR6. They NEVER wave, but they follow you places and stick business cards under your wipers? Freaky.
