It takes around 15 secs to get into pages and sometimes down to 8 secs so it is better although a little inconsistent. The back button takes a good 10 secs also.

Chers,

Wrexy.

We just wrote some new banner ad server software as the old one was putting a huge load on the server.

Cheers

For the last couple of weeks, mine has been getting slower and slower.

Might be something to do with my pc if not everyone is having trouble.

Unhappy

Nope still crawls along on my telewest broad band at home
Every other site flys on the screen, just takes ages for any page to come up

Anyone else have same troubles when using this bbs on Telewest?

Funny how you can get so many different reactions ... pretty logical because there are quite a few factors involved...

For me, it is surely faster since you changed the ad software, but there are occasional hickups from time to time (30 sec loading a page)

Every time the site slows down for me, I try to use the links to the non-pearl/cgi related stuff (dyno site, new bbs etc...) and they perform as usual (fast ) while the BBS has almost come to a complete halt...

I'm with Theo (Evil) on this one. It's exactly the same for me too. Although the pages average around 15 secs to download, occasionaly I get the 30 to 60 sec download times too and sometimes the standstill.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Hi Chaps

It sounds like this is just general intermitent load spikes, etc.

The new software should be more consistent (we hope) in that respect. Whilst it will never be as quick at loading and actual thread as the current software is (at very low load periods), is should be more consistent and quicker during high load periods.

All the best

Simon

Simon

ADSL Connection from BT via Tiscali

The line of small links load instantly, but quite a lot of the time it seems to hesitate for a 4/5/6 seconds, on a blank page, then load the page instantly. Other times it loads within a second.

Also never seem to get ad banners when I have clicked submit reply. The redirect back to the topic works, but just the little red cross in the two boxes.

Keep up the good work,

Regards

David

David,

I don't think it's your PC as I've copped that a few times myself. I have to say it's working quite well this last half hour I've been on.

Maybe it was my PC (but I am not having any other problems) but very odd ten minutes ago. Got in quick to General section but then moved to Technical and all I got was empty screen (just the top links) after 20 seconds. Hitting Back button to go back to General gave same result - so locked out. Closed browser, started again and OK and able to send this message. Sorry this is probably no help but you did ask. BTW when I hit Back button the tool bar told me it was trying to load a picture - Kansas was a word in the address??? DL
