EVO VI or Impreza

I expect his has been hammered to death, but I was looking in Top Marques and saw a T reg EVO6 (for sale at Ralliart) for 21K which is around the same price as a dealer supplied RB5 WRSport.
I have never driven a 6 before but have the RB5 WRSport.
Did I make the right choice and what are the disadvantages of the EVO?
Cheers

The evo6 is a fantastic car with brilliant handling and very capable, on the down side it has a poxy fuel tank and only takes sul (which it drinks!), and i feel the impreza is a more practical all round car in comparison IMHO. Even though i would like an evo6 as a "run around"

I have just paid £22000 for a w reg evo 6 which is not to bad but to get this i had to go through a lot of pain with the dealership! The first car needed 3 grands worth of work needed to put it right after it developed faults in the first few weeks! It seems the evo is very good if serviced at the correct times! I had a WRX before fully de-cated but the evo would leave it standing! Handling is stunning too! It is the better car i think.

I Own both cars: A MY99 chipped full Scoobysport decatted system (running 1.2 bar)and a EVO VI with a 3" open exhaust.
These two cars have a real different character. The EVO is very quick, but you have to put the pedal to the metal to achieve this. The MY99 is very quick below 4,000 rpm and this can be achieved a 75% throttle. Going to 100% doesn't make a difference. Above 4,000 rpm it's bye bye.
Handling is the place where the EVO is superior. Must say that I like the looks of the EVO more and more each day. Even my wife starts liking it.
The only thing the EVO lacks is the sound of the boxer engine. I REALLY miss this in the EVO. That car is soooooo quit, even with a fully decatted exhaust.

As said above.
48 litre fuel tank
If you getting around 17 to the gallon you will be getting 180 miles a tank.
A lot less if thrashed.
I vote for an EVO front end with Impreza rear end.SORTED THEN INNIT

Jas,
I don't think 17 miles per gallon is optimistic. I think I get 20-22ish average from my Evo 6 in normal highway driving, which includes gunning it when conditions permit.
You have to drive both cars for yourself to form an honest opinion. Half the stuff you'll read on this BBS is from blinkered owners of either Evo or Scooby, and most of the other half from people who've never actually driven a VI, yet still feel qualified to comment on its dynamics because they've just read Evo magazine.
Regards,
Gary.

Thanks guys.
I do love my impreza and adore the sound of the boxer engine.
Would have had a look at the EVO, but at the time would have been stretched a bit financially due to insrance, running costs and cost of car etc etc
In a couple of years time when I look to move on I will definately have a look at the EVO.
Many thanks for your opinions

17 miles to the gallon!! Thats a little bit optimistic! I get 12 to the gallon and thats with both hard and light styles of driving! Just filled up and got 156 miles to the tank which im pleased with. I also use octane booster which helps consumption and performance! Miss the noise from the boxer you cant beat it!
