HI Paul

I picked my 95 WRX up last October after years of wanting one. I was expecting a lot after hearing so much about them but it exceeded even my expectations - it is fabulous.

Mine had a Scoobysport Backbox and Lamco dial set in the dash when I got it. I have added an ITG panel filter (thanks Dave ), had the bumpsteer mod done, uprated the brakes, increased boost and changed wheels to the gold STi 5 spokes.

I am looking to change either to a high level spoiler or downpipe/induction kit next. I would also love tints all round - my car is black.

I also tried a full tank of Optimax this week and the difference is amazing. Try and use this.

I inquired about the letters and Subaru UK can supply them for you but it was something like £50 if I remember rightly and I could think of far better things to put £50 towards on the car.

I think I may try the guy Dave said about above. If you want any work done by an official Subaru dealer then Lavender Hill in Enfield will look at imports.

Happy driving Paul, you won't be dissapointed.

Cool

Paul,
I've had a silver 4door 95WRX since March and I think you will enjoy owning and driving it!

My car was standard when I got it and the only badges on the back are a squareish Impreza WRX badge on the left side at the bottom of the boot and next to that a circular badge saying about Subaru winning the WRC that year. Other WRXs I've seen only have the WRX badge. If it was debadged I'd probably leave it that way!

No tints on my car so can't comment on that! They look good on black cars but not sure about silver! Personal choice I suppose!

I've only got an uprated panel filter but am thinking of getting an induction kit later in the year, not sure which though!

Spec wise I'm not sure what it's supposed to have but mines got A/C, powered windows and mirrors (which can be folded into the car while parked), some have ABS but think that was an option (mine hasn't) and 254bhp (260PS). Mine was on a rolling road a couple of months ago and it produced 254bhp and 227torque.

I haven't got a tracker on mine because my insurance company hasn't asked for one (Keith Michaels Insurance) but from what I've read most require them.

I hope you enjoy your car as much I enjoy mine.

Scott

Hi all, as I am sure you all now know, I am due to pick up a silver MY95 WRX this Sat, if it's ok, I have a few small questions.

The cars has a little service history, the last service was about 7-10 months ago, my local main dealer will not service the import. Do you know of any specialist Subaru workshop local to Hemel Hempstead (Watford, St Albans, Berkhamsted, Tring etc.) that would be willing to service the car for me?

The ' S U B A R U ' lettering has been removed from the back of the car, do you have any idea how much replacements will be? Should I fit them myself or get a dealer to do it?

The rear side windows on the car have been tinted to near black, I am unsure that this is a good look for the car. How easy is it to remove the tint?

Which induction cone would you recommend? K&N? Blitz? Pipercross? others....?

Does anyone have a full detailed spec list for this car?

Would you recommend fitting a tracker?

How much am I looking forward to owning this car!!!!!!

Cheers guys, hope that was not too many questions!

Hi Paul

Be prepared for the massive grin factor
I have a 95WRX which I've owned for two years now and still look forward to driving it every time I get in the car. I've gradually been modding it over the two years to keep exploring the capability and it just gets better and better

As far as servicing is concerned I ,and a few others on here, use Dave West at Risboro 4 Wheel Drive in Princes Risborough (01844 274652). Dave is a very good Subaru mechanic who services a fair few imports and also does engine rebuilds for Subaru Dealers. Give him a ring, you won't be dissappointed by the service or the price

My car didn't have lettering on either, but I've left it totally debadged so no one knows what it is exactly!
Also I had the pimp tints removed before I took delivery, the importer did this but I think they just took extreme care and peeled the tints off (I may be wrong so don't take that as gospel!)

I went from standard filter to ITG and then to a Blitz cone. If I was doing it again I don't think I would go for Blitz, I would either stick with the ITG panel or go for K&N induction.

Also I've just had Navtrack fitted, hopefully I'll never need to find out how good it is, but it's additional peace of mind. Talk to Puff about it.

Spec of the WRX and year differences are in the FAQs on the SIDC site, in addition you may find the 'Training WRX' book useful for detail on the V2 WRX (available from Scoobmania)

Finally my advice, drive the car in standard trim for a while to appreciate how good it is anyway. Then do each mod individually so you can gauge the benefit and decide what to do next (better for the pocket as well )

Hope all this helps

Cheers

Dave

Paul,
The subaru lettering has not been removed, it was never on there in the first place! only uk spec (and euro imports?) cars have the subaru lettering on the back. Personally I'd leave it off, but if you want it I'm sure someone on the bbs can help out, would not get it from a dealer, as a) they won't give it to you cos you have an import (yes, i am serious), and b) if they did give you it it would cost a fortune!

black tints, well, I like mine, but I'm wanting to go the full pimp route and get the fronts done as well. but it does look odd with just the rears done (anyone know why they do this?)

Should be easy to remove, mine scratch off easilly enough, and other WRX owners have removed thiers, think it just takes a little time and patience!

Would I fit a tracker? hmm, well, I do have one fitted, NavTrak Proactive to be precise, BUT, I'm not really into the tracker 'thing' why? well, if someone is going to nick my car they are probably only going to joyride it, thus it'd be thrashed and crashed. With a tracker it will be located and returned, then you have to get it repaired, which is an insurance claim, so next year's renewall will be higher, plus you've got to live with a car that some git has trashed, and if they've bent the chassis slightly it could be repaired but would you ever trust the car 100 percent again? i know I would not. But then the flipside of having a tracker is that you would get the car back, plus it does make insurance cheaper, and with the car being an import, most insurers are requiring trackers as park of the policy. So if I'm against them, why did I get one? well, Puff had a great deal going, my insurance was up for renewall and the best quote required a tracker, so, it had to be done hopefully It'll never be used in anger, but it's there if needed.

POC

Well everyone has beat me to it, they are all dead right. I've had one for two years after owning a 93 RA for 18 months.

The 95 is much better, better geared more power, etc etc.

bigger alloys are a must.

Good luck
