I put my scoob in for a check up at the garage yesterday so i'm driving around in the g/f's pug 106 at the moment.

We went out for tea last night and on returning i pulled over in front of the house. A few seconds later my girlfriend starts laughing...

me - "what you laughing at?"
her - "hahahaha"
me - "What are you laughing at?"
her - "hahahahahahaha"
me - "What are you laughing at????????"
her - "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
me - "what's so b100dy funny you witch?????"
her - "HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHA... what are you waiting for?"
me - "what??? I'm just letting the turbo cool dow....oh"

I'd bet that most folk here have done something similar in a non-turbo car. How many folk will admit it?

All my journeys have a few miles of 30mph village at the end. more than enough to let the turbo cool.

A couple of years ago I went round a roundabout 'scoob like' and forgot I was driving the wifes micra.

Understeered like crazy, but still went round ok, albeit tires screeching. Did it again just for fun though

You're alone on this one! I like the idea of not having to wait in the parking lot for a few minutes with people thinking I've cracked. I do however tend to forget when the cars swap indicator/wiper blade stalks on me.

Happens the other way round as well
In my experience never give a non japanese car driving person a go in your pride and joy in the rain, left hand turn with wipers doing ten to the dozen very funny, CLEARING RAIN SPLATTERED WINDSCREEN WITH INDICATORS @ HIGH SPEED NOT SO FUNNY
(never again, older brother had to have a blast as he drives a Bora, sad git)

Oh dear, now I feel like a muppet

I always let mine cool down before switching it off after a run. Probs is I drive a 2.0 NA MR2. I started doing it when I thought I was buying a Scoob - wanted to get used to doing it.

I cant stop it now though - sub consciously I believe it lets the niternals cool down while the fan is still on

Thinking about it, Its probably a good idea to wait a few seconds before switching off in any car.

Was a passenger in my Dad's runabout (Fiat 126 - 600cc of pure, throbbing power; 0-60 in errr...his dreams), when he pulled onto the A38 near Bromsgrove, and all I heard were the words "F*ck - wrong car", as we were born down on at 56mph by an 18-wheeler, flashing lights + sounding horn. Fortunately the car was small enough to let the lorry overtake without blocking the opposite carriageway
