Hello,
Long time reader, first time poster. Having read a thread about the BMW BBS and how they were berating Scoobies I thought I would check it out. This is what I found,
I particularly liked the comment by mgobrien on page 2, very mature!

I'd agree. We don't wanna go stirring it up on other boards. But one thing i did notice on the BMW board was that some of the most offensive (and in some cases sick) comments were backed up by one of their moderators!!
Going by the recent postings on SN there's a great deal of difference in general maturity amongst the mods here and the BMW guys.
It takes a pretty low sense of humour to make a badly crashed car, where someone could have been killed, into a tool to poke fun at other car enthusiasts.

it was funny reading the comment 'it must be boring over there' meaning SN, yeah so boring in fact that they have a thread devoted to it and the fact people spend time here!

I did read through some of the BMW threads, but I did'nt see anything on there that has'nt been said or done over here at some point in time.
Going to another BBS is a little like landing on an alien planet. You don't know their culture, sense of humour or anything much at all. The same therefore goes for users visiting here for the first time.
Imagine a new user going straight into some of the stuff we have in here such as the muppets, or the mine vs yours threads. They would think we're a bunch twits too. Therefore we are no position to comment or critise the way other BBS are run, until we have spend some time lurking and finding out what's good and bad about them.
