Is it the Outback? I downloaded the yank manual and the Outback model was included. No pictures but with that name and the way this one looks it would be a good guess.

That was available in Japan for a while. Not a huge seller though - WRX on stilts really - but v. good on dirt and in snowy climes.
IIRC ride wass pretty good, and yes, it is really the Lancaster/Outback of the Impreza family.

It´s actually called Gravel Express AWD and it´s a special edition version of the MY96 if I remember correctly.

I saw one tonight, didn't know what the hell it was! I thought someone had gone mad with aftermarket parts, turns out it's genuine!

Yea, it is basically an wrx which has been half heartedly combined with an outback.Really didnt come off for them, the bumpers being different colours from the body is pretty wrong, it is really just an "off-road" wrx. Sorry to use the cliched expression but i couldn't think of much else to describe it.

Theres an N reg one in Elgin as well, saw it last night, and speakin to the guy in the garage it has 170 horse,
