#1
Hi guys and gals.
I am looking for another mp3 site, every one I have looked at over the last week pi55es me off with about 10 million pop ups, which never actually lead to any downloads.
Any one use a good site.
Thanks in advance.

I am slowly trying them, but am more interested in a web page based download engine rather than an installer. We have better bandwith at work, but Ii can't install software.

Ive tried to search for albums and every site that says it has hundreds of full albums directs me to yet another site that has none, it p"£!es me off. Is there an easy site that does what it says? also where can I dowload full films in mpeg preferably as I now have a broadband line. I already have winmx and kazza so any other suggestions please/

I tried a few over the weekend and I concluded that MORPHEUS is the best currently. Didnt like KAZAZAA as it is very buggy, slow to boot, infiltrative, and tended to crash the laptop. It also has spyware apparently.
Morhpeus is similar to napster was but has refinements such as resumtion of dropped dowenloads and multi source searching etc.
Hopefully one will come out on top again as you neeed critical mass of users to get the content up.

they are all full of spyware and adware, and i would n't touch any of them with a barge pole. IIRC morpheus is kazazaa. those of you who already running them might want to download

I second usenet - you get complete albums and there's no third party involved with their ads and goodness knows what else...
Only drawbacks with usenet are that you need a decent news feed. This can be costly if your ISP supplied newsfeed is poor - most are in my experience. Also you can't just search for tracks like you could with napster or the others. For me that's actually a benefit because I never knew what to search for anyway. On usenet much of the fun is scanning through what's been posted and finding the gems which you had forgotten about long ago. It's a bit like browsing through the CDs in a record shop.

zoog/FASTER MIKE!! i seriously would not have morpheus/kazazaa on my system, it is an absolute invasion of your privacy the same goes for bearshare and imesh. download ad-aware, you have been warned!!!
merlin, you are correct, usenet is superb for stuff you have forgotten/never considered! i'm constantly suprised by the number of people who don't use it or don't even know it exists. getting exactly want you want (ala napster) is not as quick or easy, but there are some mp3 request groups, and most posters are friendly to polite requests for stuff. as you point out tho, a decent newsfeed is not cheap, i am with btinternet and its crap, so signed up for clara's news only service which has recently become uterly useless
i'll wait until clara gets better or sign up with another news service rather than using one of the current crop of p2p programs with their yields of spyware. napster was a superb program, but we will never see its like again.
