Does anyone have any figures or experience as to give me some indication of their fuel consumption with and/or without PPP fitted.

I have a MY99 5 door, and before dropping my PPP chip in I was getting 260-300 miles on a tank, with about 48-52 litres to fill up again.

Now, I struggle to get 250. Don't know how much I'll get on a run.

Also, would Samco hoses help me any more than looking good, seeing as I have no other mods on the car? I know they are stronger than the standard restrictive ones, but are they worth the £60 or so outlay?

Thanks in advance.

PPP will increase the fuel consumption by at least 10%

Interesting; some say fuel consumption gets better in normal motoring, due to increased torque, but gets worse when pushing hard. I guess that's what I'd expect, but I'll find out tomorrow, after the PPP's fitted to my 02 WRX.

Cheers

Mike

Might be just me and my fat foot

I'm now driving on a lot of short journeys though, where I wasn't really before - maybe that's the culprit?

There was a thread earlier this year about Tek2 and Mpg.

As above, if you resist the temptation to rev the nuts off it but still make very 'solid' progress, the fuel consumption is definitely better than without Tek2 - some PPP owners also said the same.

I actually measured it over 7000miles (before and after) and my MPG improved from 22.7 to 24.9 in as similar conditions as possible.

I found that fuel consumption got better with having the PPP fitted as you dont have to down gears to get the power you want

Mail from Mike Wood, RE STI PPP(same would go for the standard one)
We haven't done a back to back test but my feeling is that you will
notice the same thing as you did with the 00MY. The potential exists
to use more fuel but as the engine is working more efficiently you
should find it uses less to do the same journey at the same speed.
Generally you will use less throttle to achieve the same result so
fuel consumption should decrease. But then again, there is more
performance and it's good fun using the extra performance so you may
find you drive the car more quickly than previously and hence use more
fuel.

So there we go, it will improve MPG as long as you don't have a lead right foot

Neil, thats about what I was gonna say.....

If you have a car with a PPP upgrade, in theory the car will make 'progress' with less effort.
That *theory* then says that you will get better mpg...in the real world most of us will USE the extra ability of the car and start to get used to it too

Then, once you are used to it, and possibly *addicted* to it, you will find the mpg suffering!

With each and every 'mod' that I have done I have got used to it very quickly, the result....reasonably quick car, addiction to boost, and only medium mpg

So, in conclusion...on paper (theory) the PPP or similar will give better mpg, in the real world, unless you drive like a Nunn, it aint gonna help ya monthly petrol budget

Regards, MD (PPP)

STi7 without PPP avg 130 miles per 50Ltrs
STi7 with PPP avg 150 miles per 50Ltrs

so 20 more miles of grins
I think it it will aslo knock 3Kmiles of a set of tyres though
