Ford slashed the Sapphire cossie price from £27,000 to £22,000 overnight if I recall when the Escort was due for release.
And I have heard that the limited edition Focus RS (5000 units)2500 for uk and 2500 for Europe will in fact be continued until the demand deminishes?
Better off with a 500 pound runaround if you worry about retaining any kind of value on a mass produced car.
I still like the bugeye though I just like to be different.

Already covered at length on another scoobynet thread.
This will continue to happen in the UK where almost alone in the car buying world, UK private punters queue up to pay over the odds for their cars in the first place! That's why all manufacturers vie to trade here. FORGET zero finance and all those other cons ... no such thing ... you will pay!
I remember reading elsewhere that UK BMW buyers account for 10% of European sales but that provides 30% of their European profit ....
RESIDUALS is UK Motor Trade speak for sustaining higher used prices to enable the fleets, who've usually bought their identical cars at prices private punters usually only dream of, dump their cars later onto the used market thus taking advantage of false residuals ... always at the private punter's expense ... bless 'em.
Do keep this in mind all you private new car buyers. Dont like it? There's something positive you ALL can do if you want to stop subsidising these greedy manufacturers - yes, the manufacturers NOT the dealers! Suppress those "must have latest MY**" urges ( oh-er matron - even if some other mug is actually paying) and leave the things UNSOLD in the showroom. Which apparently has actually happened in the case of the so called "ugly" scooby hence the bi-product price reduction much to the chagrin of those who did pay over the odds in the first place.
You do have the power to do this - it will take some time but the biggest incentive for ANY manufacturer to reduce prices PERMANENTLY to fair levels for all here in the over-priced UK, is a showroom or better still, store compound full of unsold cars. There's one near where I live.
As I said YOU have the power - use it if you have the *****/ovaries ...
Go on, I dare you ....

When I spoke to a local dealer a few weeks agao he knew of the impending discounts, stating that a £2000 discount was available to all dealers of their current windscreen price which was £19995.
So you should be able to buy a new WRX for £17995

Last week I sold my beloved E36 320 SE BMW and brought my new loved Terzo, the pain is still deep when being offered £4000.00 tops for a A1 motor. Last year it was valued at £7000.00.
Just hope my scooby holds its price for longer.
