Alacantara.... where to buy some?
#1
I know that this should really be in the interior section but nobody really goes there.... i need to find a supplier in the UK for alacantara. I just need a small bit to retrim the door cards on a pre MY98 interior.
Anybody know anywhere?

HOW MUCH???
Our local textiles shop sells it, or something that they say is it, for about ten quid a metre I think. I had it in the Terzo, loved it, and wanted it for other stuff (like making a beanbag for the living room)
Am also looking at a new scoob and our dealer offers to go to a local firm who can fit it with leather, or alcantara, or whatever, for a sum (forgotten how much).
Go to a big shop where they sell soft furnishing materials, and see if they do a roll of alcantara. Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps mine is only imitation, but it's got to be worth a phone call!

The RB5 used STI seats. Didn't answer you're question, but it might widen the audience. There wasn't anything special with the RB5, just a raid on the std STI parts bin.
Can't see Subaru using £40/m Alcantara on their cars Maybe someone will know what the STI used.
I quite fancied getting my ICE install done in the blue to match my RB5 interior, but was told it would cost an arm and a leg.

I see. Is it the 22B that had alacantara then? Yep does seem quite expensive but the £15 per metre one isn't bad. Maybe i should just trim it in ****ty vinyl... although for the same amount this costs £14.00 per metre . Why did i cange my seats

Alcantara comes in different grades, based on quality and thickness. The stuff used to trim a dash on a Lancia Intragrale was low grade as there was loads of it, the stuff BMW use on thier seats is high grade and expensive.
Alcantara is very hard wearing but one small tear could lead to major ripping. Expensive stuff for seats, medium stuff for door cards and low grade for stuff that doesnt get toucjed much, like a dashboard.
I have Alcantara seats and they are so much nicer than leather, they are warmer, you dont slide about in them and best of all you can wear shorts in the summer without crying like a girl when you get into the car!!!, hot leahter is not nice!!

Cheers Tom,
So it's medium grade stuff i need for my door cards. Didn't know the Integrale used it on the dash... i know they used it on the seats (always liked the latest evo ).

You could also try these folk Oxted Trimming. They mention manufacturing the stuff in their website.

If you want to know what the martim stuff looks like......
I retrimmed the whole interior of my nova myself (Yes i know- i sold it today- it IS a nova) in the alcantara stuff from martrim and some black leather and its fantastic.
Its foam backed if u use it on seats- or if you are trimming panels etc, then you can peel the backing off and it follows curves better...
The Martrim stuff is excellent.
-the proper alcantara comes from a company in italy called 'Alcantara' (which is a registered /copyrighted trading name/trademark. You can buy identical stuff without the 'proper' alcantara name but will b pretty much indistinuishable.
The pic doesnt really do it justice btw- hope that helps.
