Yeah-that sounds familiar. Does anyone take there cars there for work? General concensus on the RSOC BB is that Dave Griffiths knows his stuff, but not to let anyone else touch your car. Not saying I have had any bad experiences, but it doesn't help my confidence in them. ![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)

it depends on the dealer, there has been 1 dealer that I have dealt with who had their franchise removed for supplying parts to and working on imports.
Generally they wont touch STis.

Depends whether you are talking about EU imports or Jap imports. Basically..
- EU imports are mechanically and visually identical to UK cars
- Jap imports can have upto 280 BHP (as standard) and can have uprated brakes (and other 'bits'. They also come as a 2 door (Type R) and a stripped out version (Type RA) as well as 4 and 5 doors. Jap imports usually have bigger spoilers than the UK version and latterly gold wheels.

GaryC-thanks......
Maybe I should re-word my quesion slightly-what would you guys choose (ideally), jap import, or U.K. version.
Basically my friend does not know which to go for-although he is tempted by the imports. Am I right in thinking they can have running problems due to the fuel over here? or is that just a myth?
Thanks for all the info guys-much apreciated
Keep it coming!

I decided to buy a Jap import & have happily run on 97 ron fuel. I currently have an STi 4 which I like as it is a bit more sporty than the usual WRX (seats, wheels etc).
One thing to bear in mind is that Insurance companies are now asking for confirmation that the import is actually yours. Although you might buy from a reputable dealer in UK & have a V5 stating that you are the registered owner, in the event of a claim the inurance company will ask for written confirmation that you are the true owner of the car. This is being done with the help of UK Subaru dealers & costs £30.00.
So my choice of course will be the import.
Andy.
