Question

Please help settle an argument...
How does the 112 mph limiter on the Jap Imports work?
I suppose the real quastion is how does the car determine the speed and then how is increasing from this speed stopped.

It's restricted in the ECU
I bought a converter from eurospec in camberly.
The speedo cable is in 2 sections, the delimiter goes between the 2 sections.
Took me about half an hour, it's simple if you have a short 17mm spanner

Thanx chocky, but I'm trying to fathom out how the ECU actually monitors speed and then stops this speed increasing
i.e. does the ecu look at piston speed and then stop the fuel sparking?
Incidently I'm no mech head so the above statement could be utter bo11oks

The limiter is actually set to 180 which equates to 112mph.

Version 5 cars usually have a voltage reducer which effectively converts kph to mph, between the speed sensor (on geabox) and the ECU. Earlier cars iirc are mechanical and have a 'mini gearbox' inserted in the speedo cable.

The limiter is not actually removed its still set at 180... you just need 450hp and longer ratios to trigger it
