My son Chris is well pleased with his STi7 mudflaps. Now the old man wants a set for a "classic" Scoob. Stop making ones for the "Fugly" and start on the "classics" immediately! Who agrees?

id like to see them - read about mudflaps in the threads here... sounds like a good expense
i got my99 and some std mudflaps...
seeing proper ones would be good... i reckon mudflaps makes the car looks agressive

Right chaps, the problem is this;
I bought a set of new age flaps to give me an 'idea' of how to produce my flaps. They cost me nearly 400 quid. I can't sell them now, and have therefore lost money on the buggers. I am worried about spending another 300 odd quid and being lumbered again. So come on, help me sell my O.E. Subaru flaps and I can get into gear with the classics!!

Guys
Not highjacking the thread or (hopefully) not compromising my own attempts to sort out some alternatives to the expensive dealer ones. If the only thing stopping Megabusa doing classic ones is because he needs to see originals for templates then we could do one of three things. All agree to split the cost of the originals (group of 10 = approx £30 per person - which even on top of the cost for the flaps is a damn sight cheaper than originals), or borrow a set of flaps from someone you know who has them. The final option is to use the templates shown on the following thread which I think are pretty close to the originals - would like to see them sit a little lower though!
Dont just sit on your hands guys if were all desperate enough then well find a soloution to this!!

Was a company in Sweden, anyone know the person that started this thread?

If anyone gets these sorted I could do with a new set too - mine are now pink and starting to look quite worn. I had delusions about getting the materials and cutting my own set modelled on my originals, but haven't got around to it yet!
Also, a point to consider is the materials. The originals are a bit brittle IMO and wear easier than say rubber. If anyone knows of anywhere that supplies coloured 6mm rubber, please let me know - it would make them more flexible and less prone to wear.

I come up to Leicester every couple of weeks, perhaps we could arrange a meet next time Im up (unfortunately not going to be til December now though). Kaylan is indeed the stuff that I intend to use (megabusa uses Kaylan too). If this hasnt been resolved before December ill contact you then and arrange a rendezvous. Alternatively could you trace the template onto some paper and send a copy to me/megabusa?

The Kaylan stuff not only comes in different thicknesses, but different 'stiffness' too, or rather 'different quality'. They sell some stuff which you can buy from Demon Tweeks for a fiver, but its crap. The best stuff, which I use, is between the really bendy stuff and the top grade, stiffer stuff. I spent a long time with Kay-Dee Engineering to ensure we used the right stuff for the job. Its expensive and so is the tooling, the lazer cut brackets and the fixings, but at the end of the day quality is paramount. I will be doing classic flaps, but have explained the situation elsewhere on the forum. You can get cheaper interpretations, but thats down to personal choice.

Rich,
Either is no problem. I was gonna suggest that I could trace onto some A3 paper and forward. A meet is equally ok for me. Perhaps more likely to get it done that way than if I rely on myselft to fit it in sometime.
Cheers,
Kev

If you could trace the outlines onto some paper and post to me (ill send you a mail with my details) then I will get some prototypes made up and post some pics to encourage a few more people to confirm. That way we can afford to get KayDee to make up the punches required. Can you also include the hole locations and details of brackets used etc (maybe some pics) Any help appreciated and of course will sort you out with some flaps once we are ready to go
