### Bedford SIDC Cancelled ###
#1
With only a month to go we have had a pretty dismal resonse with regards to bookings for this event.
We (SIDC) need to pay 50% by this week at latest with the balance due 2 weeks prior to the event.
Therefore we have reluctantly had to cancel this event for fear of losing even more money......so....for those that have paid either a full refund will be given or alternatively your place can be switched for the Oulton Park event also on Saturday 30th November with all the same format & facilities.
I'm away from any P.C. facility till Thursday evening, so for any pressing matters feel free to ring me on 07799 - 881188.
Regards
Chris

I agree it is a shame
I want to go on track but I'm jobless & skin ATM
When that situation changes, then I'll be there
BTW - Oulton? Couldn't see anything in TrackDay forum Love that track in my wagon

Would it not have been possible to have co hosted the event with the GTR register and/or the MLR?
Would seem to make sense nowadays as it sees a lot of the trackdays are undersubscribed?
Not meaning to b1tch but could this have been as a result of the reaction to the "which car allowed on track" debate?
All these people that complained - where are they now?
The people that used to bring different cars probably don't even think about SIDC days anymore
I think this was inevitable......

As Chris [Mellow]is away from his PC perhaps I can respond in part
At yesterdays AGM this was disscussed at length and indeed Chris is going to be working with the MLR and other clubs to try and ensure we can offer track days.
However the risk to either club needs to be formularised as Chris said in the initial post tracks want 50% upfront and the balance 2 weeks before
THEY DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS IF FULL ALLOCATION IS NOT ACHIEVED
Any constructive solutions/ideas/coments whould be gratefully recieved

I've just looked a bookatrack's website http://www.bookatrack.com and it notes the OP event as being the 30th of October, not November (this wednesday). Nothing is noted for the 30th.
Anyone clarify?
Cheers

I have spoke to Chris about this, but it seems the attitude has changed from the AGM last year, where i was a member and was told i couldn't do track days in my escort.
So i didn't renew my membership as it was a waste of time as the SIDC didn't offer me anything.
So it would seem this has not worked out so well, i hope chris can turn things around and get rid of the attitude that the SIDC had last AGM......

Did SIDC ever have any problems filling days when all cars were allowed?
This may over simplify but can it not be just as simple as affiliating with other clubs and spread the cost between all of them - all that it needs would be co-ordination by Mellow and his counterpart in the other clubs - a target number would have to be set upon provisional booking and these numbers would be kept up to date weekly up until when the deposit was due.
I would suggest clubs which tend to have a historically smaller trackday contingent.
My suggestions would be:
GTR register
WSCC - Westfield club (no bias )
RSOC
Westfields and RS's have been identified as causing problems at SIDC days - leaking oil , spinning, being too fast - with all the powerful scoobs coming along that last statement is void - the spinning statement is void as I've seen more Imprezas spin/crash/roll than any other marque on trackdays and the 1st comment is a sweeping generalisation after 1 particular RS had a problem and immediately went into the pits to rectify. So i can't see any real basis for argument anymore.
I "think" MLR is always good but I don't think they have problems filling their own days so it may just become an SIDC if they are included.
I think if this isn't done SIDC days will cease to exist at all.
Enough owners and members have already been alienated - think a bit of pride needs to be swallowed to get it sorted sharpish.
There ya go - I've solved it

The Oulton day is an SIDC day, but Chris will be inviting GTR and MLR members to join us.
We were not even half way towards filling Bedford
Oulton requires less participants for us to run the day and we hope that we will be able to fill this one.
I am also a great fan of Oulton Park

So Who Collects the payments?
So Who Takes the financial responsibilities?
I am told by Chris that the MLR are have having similar problems
SOMEONE has to administer this colaboration and do it at cost
Trackday companies do this for a profit
Phil
Wish there was an easy answer

The payements would be collected by Chris and his equivalent from the other clubs.
Cheques would be cashed as normal.
At end of week all that's needed is a quick mail from the other clubs with numbers and cash collected confirmed.
A simple spreadsheet could be used for this - but someone would have to take responsibility to keep the main one up to date.
At the stage where money is required by the track, the collective clubs attendees are totalled up - if it's viable then oit goes ahead, if not it doesn't. But with 3 or 4 clubs involved it should be oversubscribed.
Someone will have to do the work though - although I can't see if the workload is in effect being spread between 3 or 4 that this would be an issue.
Someone has to make a financial decision - but that's always the case - if the club isn't prepared to do it then you may as well scrap trackdays.
As an aside, what is the clubs financial position at the moment? I assume the coffers are fairly healthy?

I have to say this whole situation really pi55es me off.
I was really looking forward to this. The BMW acr club dont seem to have any problems filling these days.
How many were booked on and how many more were needed to make it viable.
And forget the Subaru only bit thats juat a waste of time as most of them bottle last minute.
Open it up to general Scoobynet folk and let them bring what they want.
You`ll soon fill up then.
I look forward to seeing how many we need to make it happen
PS Bedford is a fantastic venue for all as there are no real barriers to hit!!!!
Look at Oulton Park.
Its near Chester for firks sake and if you go off its gonna hurt!!

Lee,
It amy have been open to all, but the SIDC stance gave the impression, whether correct or not, that other marques (especially faster ones) were not welcome. And now those that were interested don't bother with SIDC anymore.......
I'd be very interested to see how many of those people that originally made the complaint about other marques actively attend or have ever attended SIDC trackdays.
Birdy,
Why not get your chunky rich mate to hire it himself for the day?

I would have liked to go but have just done a day at Croft at the start of the month. These days are hugely enjoyable but I can only justify 2 or 3 a year due to the costs of the day (the day itself, tyres, 100 litres of super etc.) Also, Bedford is too far south. Please can the SIDC build a purpose built facility near Whitehaven .

Phil,
I have vocied my concerns/opinions many times before - nad what has it achieved? Nothing!
I said at the time when SIDC announced this new "direction" that this is what would happen. What did it achieve? Nothing.
Questions get asked and are either skirted round or not asked directly.
I have no interest in being a committee member - why would I as I have no commercial interest

Why critisise then if you have no interest in the club
As for comercial interest please advise me how the committee members profit from there involvement?
btw I am genuinely interested why there appears to be so much hositility towards genuine people who give there time freely
