There I was driving my bog standard MY97 turbo on a wet A road when an Escort cossie pulls up behind me. I floor it to see if I can get away (worth a try?) but of course he sticks with me so I pull over to let him through.
100 yards further up the 3 lane road bends slowly for about 400 yards and as soon as he hits the bend I accelerate and catch him up without even pushing it and he's twitching away on the bend like he's gonna swerve off...
I guess these cossies are great cars but I can't see me ever owning one because I couldn't live with the poor performance on the bends.
Also, where are all the scoobies in North West London? I never really see any..(apart from the occasional grandad in the wagon

ill put it down to tyres because a correctly driven Escort Cossie will be virtually if not as good as a UK turbo in the handling department (and the reason they have that large spoiler on the back for downforce).

Always loved Escort cossie's (dont like rest). I don't think I'd actually want to own one tho, unless I won the lotto or something, and had a load of cars. I hate the interior for one. And I reckon the chances of getting a decent one are getting a bit slim these days...

POC - was it not you that said you wanted the P1 again because you wanted that flat four sound instead of the hair dryer like sound of the EVO (or something similar)????
(the EVO may sound **** (IMHO) but it will run rings round the scoobies )

Look forward to it. The only time I ever got ready to race a cossie he didn't bother Turned out the guy posts on here and its just an RS2000 thingy made to look like a cossie - very convincing though

I'm defo a girl racer but I have calmed down now cos of the wee fella. I'm the traffic light gp master too!
I remember when I had my XR2 I was racing a Renault 5 turbo and whipped the guys ***, basically I knew the road so well but the best bit was when he caught up, his pals took the pi55 out of him cos it was a girl that beat him!!!!
I would love the Escort but I will defo get a Scoob

LOL POC, but if they do run rings around Scoobs then why at TrackdayPlus Top 10 Shootout was the Norris Designs Evo 5 less than 1 sec faster than Johnfelsteads totally standard (power wise) Type RA when the Evo is running some insane BHP numbers and this was on the handling course?
Note - Im not trying to argue Evo Vs Scoob here - I was just browsing the results page and was astonished at the difference (read small) in lap times. I mean it could just be driver skill levels - but I have no idea.
Simon.
