Another review where the tester didn't pick the Focus?

Also noted that the RS barely beat the Civic this time... quite a difference from the top gear test.

Yet again the topic of the RS being uncivilized on 'real' roads was brought up.

I thought Tiff comments abouts the seats interesting as well, I was at the motorshow today and sat in the Focus RS, talk about high up seats with absolutely no lateral support ! Horrible. Mentioned it the Ford Guy holding the door open and he muttered something about being about the tenth person to say that today !
Think it would of being interesting if they had made the Focus RS 4wd.

I run a CTR and i was surpized by the fact it beat the Scooby on Top gear. The only Scooby i have driven is the RB5 with anti-lag kit. The Normal one must be some way off its pace.

I was a bit surprised, on Top Gear the Focus had 5 or 6 seconds over the CTR, on fifth gear only 0.3 seconds (although on a shorter circuit). Did you also notice that the Focus was only 4 seconds slower than the Lambo (I think???) which set a time of 1'29 on the top gear course. Hmmmm....

No surprise to me that the bug eye impreza is slower than the CTR. The fugly impreza is one hefty motor, I think it might even be slower than the CTR 0-100mph. The RB5 was the "classic" shape scoob which weighed a significant amount less, and gets to 100mph a few seconds quicker than the new shape.

A cosworth focus will be released when the current focus is updated all the floor pans will accept 4 wheel drive. Ford did commision gartrac to modify the floorpans of the current car but decided that the car would cost to much. A 300bhp 4wd cosworth Focus is on the way.

I find it funny how in Top Gear magazine (Nov 2002) they tested a similar group at Anglesey and claim that the RS is "1.5 seconds faster than it's nearest rival". IMHO, as we know Tiff to be an excellent driver, maybe the RS is easier to drive fast than the others, hence the disparity in times?

Lap Times (all driven by Nik Berg)

S3 56.91
325Ti Sport (compact) 58.01
RS 54.39
CTR 55.97
Cupra R 56.06
WRX 55.92
