WRX Estate!!!

Can anyone tell me ... is the estate version of the 2.0 turbo a genuine WRX, and is the spec the same ... if so apart from the obvious lack of street cred in having an estate, why are they so cheap?

What year wagon are you talking about? Some are slightly down on power (like mine, a 94wrx) over the equivalent year saloon. From what i gather the early (93 and 94) WRX wagons have smaller TD04 turbos than the saloons (TD05).
I'd be interested to find out any other differences myself. Gotta decide if it's worth trading in next year for a saloon or go for a 300ZX.

95 wagon import
Compession 8.5 car 8.0 so I have been told
can be as low as 220 bhp
slightly lower gearing (I hit the limiter at 60 in second
But I like it Power and practical. not worried about image.
Perfect Q car

Lack of street cred? umm, I beg to differ! As you may gather I have an estate, a MY94 WRX Wagon to be precise.
The WRX's Wagon's were down on power, 220ps as opposed to 220 - 260 or 280ps in the saloons. This is, I beleive down to higher/lower compression ratio (did have the figure somewhere) think the gearing might be slightly different. The reason? well, as it's a load lugger it was thought outright performance would not be too important to the owners.
The Sti Wagons were full on fire breathing 280ps monsters, ie; same as saloon, just different bodyshell, and yes, I wish mine was an STi Wagon.
Why do cheap? well, I think you'll find that most older saloons are pretty cheap as well. Personally the Wagon is better, mainly as it's more Q car. Well, mine aint, the Nur Spec R exhaust, dump valve and huge brakes see to that
Must get it re dynoed, should be putting out about 240 - 260 I hope
Go on, get a wagon, you know you want to

Mrx,
Are you sure the gearing is shorter than the saloon? I thought it was just because the import WRX's had lower gearing than the UK cars. I may be wrong... relatively new to scoobs myself.. just going on questions i've asked on here in the last few months.
I'd be grateful of someone could give more info on the compression ratios cuz i'm about to fit a TD05 and dont wanna run too much boost if the compression ratio is higher than normal.
(sorry for the thread hijack)

Caronte,
When you say 'No', Do you mean the wagon isn't a genuine WRX? How come Subaru sold them a WRXs, badged them as a WRXs, and they're refered to as WRX wagons? Sounds pretty genuine to me.
Marty (happy WRX wagon owner)

Ask anybody at Well Lane on Sunday, the estates produced some of the best power on the days !
And as the owner of an STI 1 Estate ( 282 BHP, with only a de-cat exhaust ), mines more than up to the job.
