Decat
#3
decat is removing the catalytic converter(s) from the exhaust to allow better gas flow (straight through pipe is obviously less restrictive). benefits are more bhp and torque and loads of noise. drawbacks are that most cars need a cat to pass the emissions part of the mot (although a cat is not required to be fitted by law!)
hope that helps

It will be a nuisence replacing downpipe as it is hassle, however a lot/most cars pass with just the centre cat which is a 10min job to replace...
Downsides to decatting...... using more petrol cause you wanna hear it roar all the time
Now the upsides... theres not enough space on the page

You will have to purchase an exhaust which replaces the sections with a cat in it... So.. whatever the exhaust parts cost plus fitting.
Likewise, when it comes round to needing them replaced.. whatever it costs to get your old bits put on...

Had a decat on my MY00 turbo. One of the best bang-for-buck mods you can do on the car.
Haven't decatted my P1 though as I'm not entirely convinced it's a clever thing to do on the P1.
This has been argued on these pages a billion times before btw and I guess I'm just being overly cautious.
Lots of folks do do it without any problems
