here is the car spec...

1999, Dark Green Metallic, full spec including sports interior, air conditioning, e/windows, c/locking, PAS, alloy wheels etc, 72000 miles with FSSH.

Price is £9000 , parkers quotes £9975 for same vehicle with 30,000 miles , so it looks like im getting a fair deal doesnt it.

Am viewing the car and hpi'ing it this week. I will also be contacting the previous owner and garage it was serviced at to check for any problems.

Looking at buying subaru this month .... found a nice car , looked on parkers for a rough guide , but for some reason it wouldnt provide a mileage reduction on the price because the car is a 99 V reg. It only provided a price for 30,000 miles.

Car has got 72,000 miles on it. What sort of reduction should i be looking at ? in terms of £100's and on what basis .

thanks for your time people.

I thought the likes of parkers had a milage/price adjustment table at the front?
Thats a lot of miles for a late 99 car. Are you likely to do a lot of miles per year? If so, think how many miles it will have when you come to sell it!
What is the price?

Personally, this has caused me much debate and sleepless nights, as I've been looking at the same type of thing.

A Subaru dealer will charge you in the region of £14,000. One I was looking at had 63K on the clock for the same price......

If you look on AutoTrader's site or buy a copy TopMarques, again you'll see them for around the £13.5 - 14K mark, with varying mileage.

Apparently, on this BBS, you'll be able to pick up all sorts of bargains around the £11K mark, because from what I gather, ScoobyNet membership entitles you to dirt cheap cars

I'll probably get flamed for the above remark (not that I really care), HOWEVER, do take as much advice as you can from this BBS - there are people who know their onions (John Banks for one ), BUT weigh up the pros & cons, and if YOU think it is a good deal, then go for it.

I took alot of advice from here, got a better price & P/ex along with LOADS of "freebies" including servicing and pick up a Scoob this week

Hope this helps.....

Dan

PS what is the spec of the car you're looking at?

Thumbs up

2nd hand prices are an emotive subject...So not an easy one to answer without upsetting somebody!

Glass value a '99 'V' with 35k miles at around £12000 trade / £14000 dealer...

That said, taking a 72k mileage into account, they reckon that devalues the car to around £9300 trade / £11500 (non franchised!) dealer...

(NB The above prices are for a 'basic' car - leather/air-con will add a couple of hundred quid...Obviously the £9.3k trade figure is a starting point, and the trader/garage might bid more to secure the car, even though they're slicing their profit margin).

Cheers,

Ross.

is a £975 reduction not enough in your opinion? I still think you should consider carefully how many miles you're gonna do per year!

I looked at the reduction and thought it was great. (did i not mention that...apologies)

Mileage, will do about 15k a year or so , so not really a problem there either. Only plan on keeping for 2 years , 3 years tops and everyone here always says , regular serving , oil changes and general looking after the car keeps it running into the 100k + mileage ...
