Hi All,

Just finally got a 93 WRX saloon last night after a lot of thought and a brief interlude with a Griffith 500, and I’m chuffed to nuts! , Its got an occasional miss under full power, anyone got any ideas?.
Its fitted with a MINES Motor Sports Division VX-ROM Engine Control Computer, and a Starbo Turbo Timer, are they any good, and does anyone have an instruction manual (in English!!)
It also an APEXi N1 muffler, about 4” dia. tail pipe, any good (sounds it)
I’ve got another small piece of paper with APEXi JASMA written on it, anyone know what it is.

Alternatively if anyone speaks Japanese in the south, can I buy you a beer!

Cheers

Andy

Andy
JASMA means that the exh has passed noise and emissions test in japan(I think)APEXI stuff is up there with the best IMHO.

Don't know about the mines thingy,I would think it was some sort of fuel or ignition controller(does it have any buttons or dials)

Do a search for misfires, lots of wrx's seem to have the same problem as your's(coil packs)seem to be the problem?

cheers jon.

Jon,

The Mines thingy looks like some sort of ECU replacement, I haven't found it yet, where are they?

Exclamation

Mines are an aftermarket ECU re-progamming company, they are apparently one of the best available (In Japan).

BE VERY CAREFUL!

We have just supplied an ECU replacement for a customer who had a Mines ECU, they are routinely set up over there for higher grade fuel RON 100, 104 or higher, and his was detting badly.

I would suggest taking it into somewhere that can listen to the engine with 'det cans' and see if it is OK.

JASMA stands for Japanese Automitive Sports Muffler Association (or something like that) and is an industry standard that most of the well known quality companies over there manufacture to.

Mike.

Unhappy

Thanks Mike,

Do you know where I can get it checked with the "Det Cans", is there anywhere that can reprogram it in the UK if required?

Cheers

Question

Andy your ecu will be in the passenger footwell.

I wonder if mines change the whole ecu or fit the additional board like P.E?.

Try speaking to HITEQ 01962 721778,spoke to them about mapping a while back and they said that they were using mines ecu for skylines.

Hi Andy

The ECU you have is a replacement one. Give me a call and we can have a look at it for you, with the headphones on.

We can talk about a Possum Link as well at the same time.

Give me a call tomorrow on 07880 701 655 as I am out all day.

Kind regards

Ben
