And you wonder why Impreza are seen as boy racers?

I gotta disagree about women primarily hogging the middle lane.
Last time i drove from Edinburgh to Halifax me and the g/f had a 'heated discussion' about who had the worst driving habits, men or women. We decided to count up all the examples of bad driving we saw coming down the M6. We counted undertaking, hogging the middle/outside lane, cutting up, driving to close and anything we thought was dangerous. We gave up counting when we'd seen 30 guys driving badly but only 6 women. Needless to say, I lost the arguement.
Most of the 'offenders' were driving either budget family/economy cars or 'executive/company' rep mobiles. One thing i noticed was the lack of bad driving by people in performance cars.

I was trolling along the A40 on Saturday morning, going up the long hill near High Wycombe towards Oxford.
As usual, an idiot Focus driver was doing 65mph in the outside lane and had a queue of traffic backed up behind. I was at the end of this line, waiting for it to clear, when a bugeye Impreza came up behind.
The chap driving was so close that I couldn't see his headlights, so I moved into lane 2 to allow him to harass some else. As I moved into lane 2, he did the same, narrowly avoiding me, then cut into lane 1 (relatively empty) and accelerated like there was no tomorrow.
The problem was that an A3 moved into lane 1 from lane 2 (OK, should have been looking a bit better) so the Impreza driver had the option of a) crashing into the A3 or b)continuing at the same rate ON THE HARD SHOULDER. Clearly Impreza drivers can't be slowed down, oh no, so he chose option b.
He then zig-zagged his way to the head of the queue and made off.
Whoever you were, Mr X-reg Bugeye, you're a truly awful driver. In the space of 30 seconds you almost caused 2 accidents, all because you were so keen to be wherever it was you were heading for. I've been driving for around 20 years and that's one of the worst examples of road behaviour I've ever seen.
But do me a favour. Go and find a big tree, and drive into it at warp speed. You'll have the big accident you're so clearly looking for, but without the problems of taking anyone else with you.

Dr Hu - That was his Uncle... Uncle Ben and Aunt May!![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Some people will drive like morons no matter the car. I had a fright this morningas a Lupo sliced across in front of me twice when they found the inside lane was blocked. The did eventually end up on the hard shoulder, or their private lane it would seem.
Some drivers are in dire need of educating on manners and the rule of the road.

I can relate to what you are saying, i hate it when people undertake... The main crux of the problem is that you get morons who don't have any lane discipline... (or at least don't know any better
That is what leads people to overtake on the inside. I appreciate that the guy you are on about was probably doubly stupid and shouldn;t have done it but why was the Focus trundling along in lane 3 to start with??
People who think 'i drive at a medium speed, so i should be in the midle lane' drives me mad!!! there are only overtaking lanes on a Motorway / Dual Carrigeway not fast and slow lanes!
Rant mode off.

What was going on this morning?
During the 15 mile round trip to take my Son to school, I saw three accidents! All on roads I drive every day, and on which I have never previously seen an accident.
Most of these were rear end shunts, one by an artic'. Roads were dry, visability excellent. Same idiots out again this evening, and I can hear more sirens whilst I type![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Josh
PS The bigest idiot I saw today was also driving an Impreza. A green 4dr 'classic' around 3.30 on the A5

I agree with Ricco. Both my Wife and I hate lane hogs, particually the (mostly) woman in the middle lane. I've been increasing undertaking but it scares me as some people hate it and try to pull over just as you're coming past.. Not a problem in the scoob as you can just put your boot down, but up hill in my wife's 1400cc it's scary.
Btw, there's no excise for driving like an idiot and using the hard shoulder..

marty, think youll find that there are many more male drivers on motorways to begin with. So therefore yu will count more men with bad habits anyway. I know a lot of women driverswho never use the motorway case they are scared of it.
I hate lane hoggers as well, i do undertake also, always make sure there is a free lane between me and the hogger when i do. Also to the people with their rear fogs on, i like to pull in front of them and then apply my rear fogs
