Hi all,
MY00 makes a barking sound at me when i accelerate hard and shift up.
Is the turbo meant to make that noise??
The car has done 8.5k.
Just to put my mind at rest, hope someone can shed some light on this noise.

Mine does this m8, I don't think it's a turbo noise at all - sorta like a 'graunching' noise, right?
Try easing back off the throttle to come off-turbo before you hit the clutch - definitely works for me, and it's more drivetrain-friendly than the alternative (when 215 horsies are galloping through yer clutch)

I used to get that on my Pug - turned out i'd locked my dog in the boot, and every time I accelerated he banged his head, and thus barked.
Try this simple test, to see if you've got a similar problem - Open boot, and is there is a dog in there (any make) remove it, then try car - sound should be gone, or at least quiter (mine was, as I tied dog to towbar
)
N.B. No animals were hurt during the making of this post

I've got a MY99 that seems to make a barking noise like you've described. Only had the car 4 weeks so not sure if its meant to sound this way? Cars done 35k.
BTW the dog is definitely at home!
As it my 1st scooby, can anyone confirm if its common for the clutch to judder when cold?

Sulli - I like the picture! ![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)

- yes, they all do that. Mine got worse and worse so they changed it under warranty at 35K, even then it wasn't perfect with a new clutch and is starting to go the same way, but it gets better as it warms up. Completely normal. Crap clutches.

I think I have the answer to your problems...
Mine did the same thing, and I thought my camshaft had bit the dust.
If you look in the engine compartment immediately in front of the driver, there are some thin hydraulic pipes next to the bulkhead. It is a known problem that these resonate and rattle, or growl. Try shoving some carpet underlay, or similar, between them and the bulkhead.
I did this and my growl has gone.

Cheers for the advice folks; I guess I'll have to learn to live with the clutch 'till its warmed up.
I'll have a look under the bonnet tomorrow to see if I can cure the bark.
