Bear in mind, it is £6k more than a similar demo, standard car would be! It is probably a slight saving on list if you add up all the options, but the new STI won't be much more than that and UK300 can still be had for £24,995 new which has pretty much all the spec of that car + Alcantara Seats.

Also remember that an EU Import can be had for £17k...

Test drive! oh dear hes bought it already. i had one ex demo car once. never again, all sorts of niggle things went wrong, it was a A3 1.8t quatrro. we went on a test drive with audi and they all got the pants thrashed off em! then back on the fourcourt. just check tyre wear on this scoob, may sound silly but it wont be the first time ive seen scoobie demo cars on track with that sort of mileage on! seen a P1 and UK300 doing exactly that! Cheers Lee

I second what plantie said.

Go for Carolyn TS's MY01. It's in mint condition, will not have been thrashed and has every extra one could ever want. It's the identical copy of the scoobysport car in this months EVO mag.

You must also remember that as a demonstrator the 200 miles it has done were probably done at 7000 rpm !!!

IMHO but I wouldnt get a demonstrator as whenever I get a testdrive a thrash the living f&*k out of it !!!

Nice looker. However I agree with those that reckon the UK300 would be a better bet. I saw one advertised at a dealer last week with prodrive performance package for £25,495 (cant remember which dealer). Will probably have better residuals than the above car as it is a special edition.

Why not wait for the new WRX STi?

Not worth it.
If you buy an ex demo/used car you should atleast get the VAT off. My advice would be to go for an EU import and pick your own options from the Scoobysport (or similar) wishlist. This way you'll get yourself an unmollested car and save atleast £3k

Look in the Private sale. You will find a lovely red one with 18inch gold wheels. 23,000 only done 5,000 miles. Has loads of extra's. I think Caroline is in the title.

Hmmm, i never knew the MY01 had "traction control"?? it also has a rear spoiler with tail light and a type 44wrc spoiler!! 2 spoilers on one car! suppose thats why its at that extortionate price then!
I think the dealer is waffling out of his ar$e there, you would be better buying a new car, having the std 17's on (18's will make it tramline more) and getting the PPP for it, headlight conversion etc and your still going to save money on it!
Shop around, better and cheaper out there!

Tony

yeah cmon m8 let us know what happened ?

i like the bit in the ad you posted that its got 'Full Service History' with 200 miles on the clock

certainly agree that you should get a much better deal than that, go see Carolyn TS's car or why not wait for the STi.

I thought MY01 were £21,495 in the UK

A couple of mods may make it keep some of the value it lost when it became a used car but add this plus 4k by this reckoning they think it's worth 5.5k over a standard one. Most of the bits listed are standard anyway. bout 5k too much IMO.

ok this is what happened

i went all the way to the showroom to look at the car and its a real stunner, cut a long story short they wont give what i need on my car as p/ex so thats its not the one for me.

they also said 'dont belive what you read on scoobynet' so obviously they had read this post about thrashing of demos and advised me that 'we do not thrash this car' lol lol

so off i went to milton kenes subaru for the second time where they are coming closer to what i want for me' motor and they are going to advise on finace etc on another car (black which the wife hates) and a brand spanking new one just like the above mentioned.

failing that i am putting my motor in auto trader to try and sell private which would allow me to buy private

and thats it

what a waste of an afternoon off work
