944 Turbo vs. Impreza
#2
er..
(Taken from CCC)
944S : 0-60(7.5) 188 bhp
944 Turbo 220/250: 6.1/5.5 220/250 bhp.
944S2 : 6.5 188 bhp
944 2.7 : 8.0 162
hmm the only one 2 worry about would be the turbo 250 but mostly its down 2 the driver anyway

Know of a father and son duo, with a 944 (S2 - 2.7l) and an Impreza Turbo (MY97). Both good drivers, and their summary of the two was that in the dry there is little between 'em, but in the wet the 4wd of the Impreza gives it the lead.

My last car was an 89 944 Turbo (250)
My present car is a 96 UK turbo Impreza
Very fast car, the porker, runs 1.87 bar standard but very laggy, but very **** happy in the wet.
Dry day, straight road would probably just stay ahead of an Impreza (porsche about 100kg heavier)up to 100.
After 100 Porsche would destroy it mainly due to better aerodynamics and 2.5 litres (top speed 167mph).
Bring rain into the equation and Impreza chews up the Porsche and spits it out. Far Far quicker round the twisties in the rain.
Raced my mate's Integrale in the 944 on a dry day. we were step for step to 100, 100-120 edged away, 120+ left him for dead. Auto bahn before anyone starts

I owned a 944 Turbo and it was a very good car. I knew the previous owners and it had always been immaculately cared for and was in mint condition with low low mileage.
Saw in on a forecourt recently and it broke my heart . It had been subsequently owned by peasants who obviously couldn't afford the expensive upkeep.
All things being equal I would probably prefer the Porsche over the Scooby ie if they were both new, however, there are very few 944 Turbo left in good nick as most seem to be shagged out by now. In the real world the Scoob would now win.
Shame Porsche don't make a similar car today.
