I have gone and bougth a geodesy to accompany my euro 550.

I am just hoping I can mount it in the cup holder location in the later spec dash but still pick up signals.

Has anyone tried this yet?

I am fairly convinced it will still work without the need for the unsightly expensive extra aerial. I suppose there is only one way to find out.

Adam, put it in the central storage bin and close the lid. Sits in there firmly, works really well and is very discrete.

Adam, for someone that NEVER takes his car above the 25mph limit, why do you continue to buy these goods?

Plus you only need to see the lights, as you never listen to anything/one anyway.

But if you're getting rid of the bin it's a moot point

Question

Neil,

It obviously still picks up the GPS signal in the storage bin with the lid closed then?
I am planning on getting a Geodesy but thought it had to be located 'line of sight' with the sky on top of the dashboard.

Indeed it does, when I park up I somtimes shove the lid shut on my Geodesy. I'll sometimes forget to open up the lid but it still works. Subaru build quality is useful for once!

Lack of lights isn't a major issue - the beeping starts at a few hundred metres which is more than enough to slow down.

Adam

I located mine in the far right hand corner of the dashboard - works fine from there and I find it a bit easier to reach to turn off the beeper and to remove when leaving the car (can take it out of the mounting whilst standing outside the car.

Cheers

Yours works with the lid down, are you sure? If I wave my hand over mine or pass under trees it loses signal.

yeah, Jack, but the storage bin is may of very thin stuff!!

works fine in there and the lights are just about in field of vision, so you notice the warnings.

Anyone tried their re-radiating antenna?
