Question

Used to own a Westie so I'm dead jelous, but, I have to ask, why didn't you go for the Megabusa?

PS

Love the idea of 6 forward gears & 6 reverse

...ok so its two different cars, but I have finally added a weekend/track car to the garage

Bought yesterday, Fireblade engined Westfield. No roof, no doors, not even a windscreen. ‘Cut slick’ tyres, sequential (bike) gearbox (with steering wheel gearchange as well as gearstick )....and almost 350 bhp/tonne That’s more than most Lamborghini Diablos and more than all current Ferraris

But the best thing…..running/owing the Westie AND the 330d will cost less per year than my Impreza did Might not quite have the wet traction but my god does it make up for it in the dry

Colour - Blue with Carbon Fibre panels

Didn't go for the Megabusa as it would have been close to twice the cost - and 350/tonne is enough ..... for now

Plus the car is a one-off and with 60 coming up in 4.1 and 100 in significantly less than 10 secs - I would kill myself in anything faster

Car cost me £12700 (cost £15k plus build costs 5 months ago)

Did look at a Caterham Fireblade, but the equivalent Cat would have been over £20000 (although they lied and told me it would cost £16500 to get me to pay the deposit )

I have some pictures if someone cost 'host and post' for me

Looks good Gary,

One of my best pals built one of these at the start of the year (he had some time off, so completed it start to finish in 3 weeks flat!)

We went to Santa Pod in early Feb for a 'run wot you brung', (I think Dingy was there, with his monster RS Escort).

The car sounds fab, bit like a formula 1 car going up the track...and although he had a bit of drouble getting off the line in the Westie, by the end of the session he was posting 13.5secs for the 1/4 mile. Which I think is fairly respectable for a 900cc engine!! I raced against him a number of times, and it was quite close really. I would get away from the lights quickest, but by about halfway down the track he was with me and then he just carried on past!! My best was a 14.8sec in a standard UK Imp.

But, it is most definitely, a top weekend mobile!

Hope you have great fun in it!

Jim

Rest assured Jim - I will

It can be bloody tricky to get it off the line slowly let alone 'in anger' (clutch even when uprated is only c6" diameter ) but once on the go.....
