Question

Sorry of this has been asked before, but I am looking for a finite answer:

1997 UK Turbo - which is the "best" fuel (i.e. should I be using Shell Opitmax or Texaco Super Unleaded)?

Thank you in advance for any help,

Richard

Wink

It is like openning a can of worms mate..

Optimax is 98Octane and all other Super Unleaded fuels 97octane..

Optimax seems to go off quicker, and some people report a loss of octane in some cars..
it also has this cleaning agent in it which builds up and so I run Esso SUL throguh every so often to remove it.. weird that a clean agent should do the reverse but I think it cleans the valves etc but deposits are left on the turbo

Some find SUL more consistent.. some swear by Optimax..

Being a UK car it should run okay on 95 octane not that I would recommend using it, so anything over 95 octane is a good thing..
My UK car ran a lot smoother on SUL than 95octane and smoother still on Optimax so I use this..

About to buy a knock link and AFR monitor I think (I am hesitating like always when it comes to spending cash) so I can monitor how the fuel effects the engine etc..

Hope my waffle is of some use
