Now a few of you have been lucky enough to have this fitted for a while, does it live up to expectations.

I am consiering having the PPP fitted, and would appreciate comments -i.e does it really make a big improvement? I remember mixed reports on the PPP for MY00 cars... is this one a definate go?

Many thanks

Well, we've got one PPP STi, and one standard, and I swop from one to the other daily; so are probably well placed to comment.

Definitely yes, Sti7PPP feels quicker and better to drive than my old P1 with various mods.

Price is steep but worth it, no warranty issues.

Is there any significant difference in exhaust noise, between the standard STI and the STI-PPP?

Anyone any experience of using a Prodrive WRSport tailpipe instead of the Prodrive PPP one ??

If so, could they comment ?

Mines due to be delivered later this week and my dealer has advised that Prodrive have emailed them to say that only they PPP tailpipe should be fitted and not the WR Sport one ??

Having heard the PPP one, I'd prefer to keep the WRSport as it's got a bit more grunt !

Does the pick up improve when pulling out of juctions with the PPP, or is it just as slow to react.

Looks like the PPP is the way to go... and I'm quite happy to put it on my bugeye as I honestly don't think the new car looks as nice, maybe more the norm, but I like the aggressive - rally - look that the bugeyes have. Can anyone comment at what point the PPP makes a difference or is it throughout. I have read heaps of reviews, but value comments from people on hear that actually own the cars before and after and drive them every day.

Question

Like a few others on here, I'm still thinking about it. £2000 does seem quite a lot of money for not a great improvement in performance.

For those who have had it fitted, how is the MPG now?

Thanks
Gareth.

My friend who had one of the 1st fitted to his STI says it makes a huge (positive) difference pulling out of junctions.

I run a WRS back box for the same reason that you want to,had my ppp for about a month now you will enjoy it,i spoke to Mike Wood at Prodrive to ask his opinion on runing the WRS box he said it was the same back box as the ppp one except with a different end pipe and part number! He said it would be ok to run

Hope this helps

Thanks Justin, Need to convince my dealer tomorrow. They reckon Prodrive have instructed them not to fit any other tailpipes - including the WRS.

Does the WRS sound any better with the rest of the PPP exhaust system ?

Can't wait until tomorrow night.

Nils

Viper,

I need some real experience to help me make a judgement. I have a P1 with new de-cat downpipe and ITG panel filter. It really is fun. However I drove the present STi today and was so disappointed in it. The lag was distinctive and the sheer pull was far less. I am keen to be one of the first guys to get the STi 2003 but with the PPP.

Assuming you can get the PPP on the new 03 car what is the main difference with the P1???

Steve,

I bought my STI7 after having P1 and i was initially very disappointed and wanted to go back to P1( more money thrown away to subaru dealers!!) 9 times out of 10 STI7 was better car but didn't give me the thrill that the P1 did for that sunday morning blast.
I had my PPP fitted 2 weeks ago and now i love it much more like the P1but with all the other benefits like better build quality and the front diff which improves the handling.

The difference is not like an off/on switch but it really pushes you back in the seat and pulls from a lot lower down right to redline in one smooth powerful burst( like th P1 )- no more off boost bogging down or lag. When you look at the speedo you are really going a lot faster than you thought!I personally think it was well worth it and have now got no wish to go back to P1

Hope this helps

Question

I still thinking.

I keep going to pick up the phone to my dealer, then thinking "do I really need it?" !!!

Maybe i'll wait to see if I get a bonus in April and by then the waiting list should be shorter..

andy
i feel the same, gone from a decatted p1 to the sti, luv the car most of the time, hate the low rev lag and lurching with the car, my ppp is due jan/feb but been thinking about the milltek exhaust instead, £1200 cheaper as my dealer wants £2k plus fitting and gaskets, works out about £2180 where as the milltek is £950 and i would fit it myself, still not sure

My PPP arrived at the dealer today. Sadly, it won't be fitted until next Thursday :-(. I'll let you know how I find it.

Nils - you've had yours fitted by now. Is it fun?

Cheers,
Philip.

Phillip

Only drove it back from the dealers to work about 15 miles. Felt much better though. Got a bit worried though when I stopped and there was smoke coming out of the air scoop !!! New exhaust I guess.

Leaving work now, going to have some fun !!

Phil,
I think you will be pleasently suprised but not "Gob smacked" PPP really fix's the low power on take off and pull out of corners Overtaking may only have to change down one gear and not three

Nils,
Mine did that aswell so don't panic but you will notice far more heat is generated from exhaust and engine with PPP IMHO 6 month of pre PPP and never used the IC water spray used it 3 times since PPP

Thanks Tony, it's stopped smoking but is running very hot.

Really pleased with it though, really sorts 3rd, 4th & 5th. I now know what everyone meant when its been said 'to watch the speedo'.

Can't wait for Bedford next Saturday.
