Ive gone and done the dirty deed (360 Modena)
#1
Last couple of days ive been pondering about a car that I could enjoy, not loose much dough on and try and have one of the best motors in the world.
Yesterday I gave a deposit on a brand spanking 360 modena but have yet to choose the spec, I went upto a local Ferrari dealer today and had a butchers at some awesome 360's. Ive gotta say they do go alot better than they look
Only problem with a new car is the bloomin waiting time, 12-18 months. Gives me this time to dream about the future and get prepped for some awesome Ring trips in this motor.
How does the community rate these vehicles?, not that I mind if people dislike them as they are worth it for the sound alone.
Cheers to David Brown and Matt Oz for the advice, you know you lads should get one

The queue for a lap of the 'Ring starts here (ie behind me!)
Has a pedigree that Subaru can only dream of.
AFAIK, you only live once, so enjoy whilst you can.
Nice one

Tony RED is the Colour of course
Thinking about the manual or F1, people have told me the clutches on the F1 die quick but only if you flat change alot.
I asked the Dealer today and he said "Had no come backs" but i suppose thats what all dealers would say.
Red Car.
Red Calipers.
F1 or Manual?
Hide Colour probably Crean Niero
won't bother with spare wheel as thats what the RAC are for
Xenons are expensive £1,100 for some lights, no ta.
They also give you a choice of roll cages but I think £3K for a cage is a little pricey.

So harj,
is this car going to arrive before all the others you've ordered?
Like the nismo 400r? what happened to that?
and those 2 22bs you bought and sold?
Oh and the evo 7?
hmmmmmm.
PS. I ordered my mclaren F1 today, no choice on spec apart from colour poor rich little me.
If you genuinely had ordered one of these, you would know better than to buy from uk. You can get them brand new in RHD from europe, the warranty period is the same.
For a start the car is sadly dissapointing performance wise, especially if you have access to the rs200, and the sound doesnt match the 355.
The spider is gorgeous but the 360 modena just doesnt excite anymore, they have become common round here (although I still turn my head to look - or I use the rear view mirror).
To those people not lying who genuinely do consider F1 gearboxes, dont is the answer.
Make horrible noises and smell when creeping uphill.
The essence of ferrari is an open gate, it would be rude any other way.
15k to replace and everyone I know who has had an F1 gearbox ( about 6 people) has needed to have serious work done.
DOnt know why I am even saying this harj, cos you are obviously talking bollocks as ever.

360s luvery but common as muck here in Jersey. Saw five yesterday, if you count a very low mileage second hand hand one in the dealers. Two red coupes, two spiders and silver spider (Registration J 360 )
Local dealer also has choice of three 355s in stock. No, he won't let me borrow them for test drives

Harj,
One other extra to go for is the competition rear grille. Goes between the light clusters, and is drilled carbon (I think), have driven ones with and without and the one with looked at lot better.
IMHO F1 box is quicker, but then that was round Kemble in Ferrari's own cars, so I didn't have to worry about replacing the knackered bits

As nice as the 360M is there is something not quite right about it in IMH(non-Ferrari owning)O.
In the words of Jeremy Clarkson it was 'built to carry golf clubs for god's sake' and the factory fitted wheel design is the least attractive one I can think of!
They look better in silver IMO and there is more than one shade of red available these days.
I'd love to try one but after a few laps in a 355 at Snetterton, I'd find it hard to imagine that it was any sweeter and you could always go for a track-modified 355 if you wanted the style and the substance...
If I had over £100k to spend on a Ferrari however I'd be looking long and hard at a F40.
They are much more common than most people think (they built more than 1,300 of them!) but when do you ever see one?
Err.. I saw two in South Kensington once but only one other (again in SK).
You can pick one up for under £150k and 'surely' they wont depreciate 'much' more. Down from a peak of $800k

Why, did Harj get it from the back of a car transporter? Did he get a 360 body shell to put over the Integra R Chassis?
Seriously m8, top choice in car. Not jealous really as I can't fit my kids in too(lame excuse I know but the only one I can think of)...
Scarlet Red IS the colour for Ferrari's just make sure you don't get the gold wheel option. Shame you have to wait for it.

Fantastic mota Harj old boy! Hope it works out! I must admit that I would be tempted by a F40 but then again, that is another 50K ! Have you tried Tom Hartley??
Cheers,
Mossman
PS Last F40 I saw was in a magazine (Boo!) and Rod Stewart was in it! (double boo!)

Have you considered buying one LHD from Europe? You could probably save the price of a 22b, and it would likely be in top condition considering how new the car is, and how owners only do low miles.
Did you know you can get LHD 550 Maranellos for £75 grand from specialists in the UK? LHD is easy once you are used to it, and considering the time and cost saving on a 100k car with a 12-18 month waiting list (vs a matter of weeks to get a LHD one), it is worth serious consideration.

Who says I'm not getting one (Watch this space)
Having said that, you've said you're getting about 100 different cars in the past 6 months.. I'll believe it when I see it
Nice choice tho

Hehe, I like the banter
Look, Harj now committed himself publicly, so he will either be the ultimate muppet in a few months time, or send us all a
(and still be a muppet of course )
And Neil, you are so wrong ... yellow or silver are the only colors a 360 looks good in.
And even if this is all academical ... the new Corsa shifts faster than that Ferrari F1 crap ... so a manual it has got to be.
Will you put gold alloys on it Harj ?

Iain, that wouldn't be the Red 360 Spider manual transmission with 3 wheels that everyone seems to be trying to get rid of at the moment........on the other hand if its Grigio Alloy with F1 transmission I'll have it.
