Depends on how serious a car your after, I don't know owt about r/c cars but Debenhams have some "toy" ones in at £20, 1:16 scale (about a foot long) they're battery operated and made of plastic, as opposed to fuel driven and made of metal or whatever the expensive ones are made of.
Decent enough fun about the house and drive, the Mrs got me one a while back and keeps it the cats on their toes in our house, (it's only back wheel drive but I find this more than enough except when the kitchen lino is wet which alters the handling).
If it's not for yourself but for a present they're suitable for ages six and upwards.
