I was talking with a friend about how good I thought gold wheels looked on a red WRX but he mentioned that it's a "wildly held belief" in Scooby circles that it's "no no".
Is that true? I know it's all down to personal opinion but I was wondering...

Cos, if you've got a UK red scoob, then I'd agree, but if you have a "flame red" colour (as it is called) on an imported WRX, then gold certainly looks better than the "dull" anthracite wheels on a red car (not dogs danglies at all IMHO )
speaking personally of course

Well, speaking as Bright Red (not mica) WRX owner with gold wheels, I really didn't like them at the start, but bought them because I got them for £250 secondhand (17's) with half worn tyres I didn't care how they looked, they improved the handling and were much cheaper than 4 new tyres! Anyway I've grown to like the goldies now, but definately wouldn't have them on a mica red - they just look sh!te!

Well let me see now:-
Mica Pink and GOLD - NO!!
White and GOLD - Its the best combination I have seen
Blue and GOLD - NO!! just because the rally team does it does NOT mean it looks good!
Black and GOLD - NO!! looks like a box of choclates
Silver and GOLD - NO!! probably the worst combination
At the end of the day - do you really want to look like a right girlie plonker?? Gold wheels are 'SO' 90's and SO 'gay'
Just my opinion, in case no-one knew my views
Pete

My Terzo came with lovely GOLD wheels as standard.
Ask anybody and they will say that the classic Scooby colours are blue & GOLD

Surely this is all a matter of personal taste.
It would be boring if everyone went for the same colours.
I personally think red with gold is fine.
(Silver MY00 with Std wheels)
live and let live brothers!

Well!!! - being the owner of a white 95wrx with gold 17 Super T's I was flattered to read that this is the best combination - i therefore propose a motion to make PSLewis' statement an official Scoobynet Statement of fact - hence helping me obtain a better price when i come to sell my car - one sad day in the future!!!

Seems my mate was right about how 'Scooby bods' feel about this. Interesting.

On my gloss red WRX I have a set of 17” RB5 wheels in gold and also a set of 17” Speedline Minstrals in silver (used primarily when Pete Lewis comes to town).
I think they both look good, but it does depend on the wheel as to what colour its painted. Some wheels look good in gold and some don’t. So I guess its down to personal opinion - just ask Pete

Before anybody starts adding gold wheels to their car, please colour code the thing to get rid of that black plastic surrounding the car, THEN add gold wheels. There also seems to a difference in the types of gold, as seen in the pics above, the ones on my car are Speedlines and seem to be dark gold, even after removal of brake dust, and look great, others are bright gold and look like the chocolate coins you hang on the christmas trees, i.e. naff.
