** Very Sad Day - MY Scooby's Gone**
#1
Well it's 18 months down the line and my Scooby will be getting picked up by a Stealer Dealer @ 1300hrs. No one esle wanted to buy it on here
I aquired the vehicle on 25th May 2001 and have enjoyed every day with the car covering over 22,500 miles.
Thanks again everyone for all your help and advice regarding Scoobies and to all those who have sold be bits to me for the car.
Unfortunately I will going to the dark side and purchasing a VW Golf GT TDi 110.
I've made this decision because I'll be looking to purchase a house in the next three years or so and the extra cash will come in handy. I will save approximately £200 a month just by changing cars.
Don't worry I will still visit this site on a daily basis as it is a very hard addication to get rid of the ScoobyNet
Sniff Sniff Sniff (20mins to go)
Cheers

scooby_si,
Just you and several million other people waiting for this to happen!
People have been telling me about this inevitable housing crash for the past two years. Glad I didn't listen to them and bought when I did as I have saved myself about £70K. I don't think I can afford to buy my own house anymore.
You might like to remember that in the last housing crash (1989) prices went down by about 30% and this took several years, triggered mainly by the 15% base rate at the time.
I am not saying it won't happen again but relying on it happening is just asking for trouble.

Hi red_dog104,
I had to let the car go for £8000 which was around £800 - £1000 less than I realy thought it would fetch in a Private Sale.
I was very put off and frightened of the £3000 that Subaru has knocked off the current 'Bug Eyed' model. What will happen in 2003 when the MY03 arrives??
I sold it to a friend at works Brother-in-Law who's in the trade who then sold it onto Vine Place in County Durham, they will probably put it up for £9500 - £10000 or even more. They currently have 94 & 95 WRX models not half as good as mine was for £9000.
Hope you have luck in selling your car.
Owning the Scooby in the last 18 months has cost me a lot of money including the depreciation.
Cheers

Mine is going tomorrow morning.
Got £10,400 as a trade in for a 156 Sportswagon 2.0. My Scooby had done 51,000 miles and was a MY99 UK car 4 door.
The Tek 2.5 was swapped out of mine this morning and for the first time in a about a year I drove a standard Scooby (no dawes, etc). Got to say it wasn't quite as slow as I thought it would be. Almost relaxing
Going to miss the Scoob big time though. Owned mine for 18 months and only have to change it because of a new job.

I sold mine privately last week, it was picked last Saturday (X Reg MY00 last of the line "Classic shape"); bring to an end 4 years of Scooby ownership. I too was worried about residuals.
I sold mine for £12k which was less than it was worth IMHO but compared with some people on Scoobynet, I seem to have done quite well (I also made another £400 with sale of several parts).
We are now carless for the next 2 weeks, when our black Leon R should be delivered. I have tried to stay way from this Site, but I just can't........

I had my MY95 WRX on sale here for a couple of weeks but the prices people were offering was way less than the car was worth to me.
I've decided to keep it and its currently having some STI 4-pots, Tarox discs & pads, PE equal length headers and a Turbo Technics MD270 turbo fitted...... ....and the Unichip from last December that I never got round to!
I loved the car and seeing as I now dont have to buy another, I can spend on this instead - FMIC for february methinks....

"Be mindful of the ways of the dark side ... strong is it".
Like any good pudding .... you always want to go back for a second helping. You'll be back.
Enjoy the TDi, it's got doors that go 'thud'. No Sccob's got that!
