Say it loud, say it proud. I'm happy with my STi Prodrive and I don't care who knows it. There, I've said it now and it feels so much better.....

you have clearly been drinking. maybe I should report this thread to the moderators.

actually I was in my local dealers at lunchtime and they have a beautiful pre-registered STi7. Its the first time I have really looked at one close up. It looks absolutely fantastic (and this is coming from a totally blinkered "classic" lover!) I am going to wait for everyone to slag off the STis so that the prices hit rock bottom and then I will get me a bargain. Come on people get on the bandwagon - tell everyone what a load of rubbish these things are!!!

Well, I test drove one and didn't like it, so I didn't buy one. I can't understand all the people that say 'MY STI is rubbish' - why did you buy one in the first place?

I kept my MY00 and bought a Westfield with the money it would have cost me to upgrade instead. The Westy is faster than either car, depreciates less, gives me a choice of what to drive to work in, and costs peanuts to insure and service. The '03 STI had better be bloody good to make me trade both my cars in for one!

Can I say " Its better than sex " - enough power to get me into or out of trouble, looks good (IMHO), fun to drive, and its mine.

Note to self - Must get a new girlfriend....

Hey, it's a wonderful car! As long as i haven't got any problems with my engine, i don't care about rumors.

And... In the end everyone that had an engine damage, 'enhanced' the car in any way.

Skippyscoob - so you must one of the few that aren't afraid of change then?! Nice one.

Look at it this way - the '01/'02 are the most limited edition scooby ever!

I've never know so much controversy over a car. - If you like it buy it - if you don't then spend the money on something else. If you've bought one and you don't like it then sell it. - Simply

Another pat on the back for TrueSti Man's comments.

If the car is *so* bad, why the hell do people buy WRX's and then try to mod them to get the same sort of performance...even down to putting the STi stickers on? Wannabees? [flamesuit on]

Mine goes like a bat out of hell and I'm absolutely delighted with it. Only thing I want to change is the spoiler, and there was no way I was gonna wait until the 03 STi for my scooby fixation. I put down the money, made my choice and I'm one fecking happy camper. I don't give a damn what next year will bring, what previous years offered - I have my STi7, and it's a BELTER!

You should see the looks on the faces of ppl I hand the keys to and say "go give it a try"...it's like "Can I? Can I?"

MUCH better is the enormous smiles after they've had a run in it. I've only had one guy who didn't go "F*ck !" (or the equivalent) and that's cos he was a born-again Christian.

It's a helluva car and it's MINE all MINE !!!

Had the PPP fitted to my car a week ago and is brilliant. Just as quick as the P1 now but much smoother and more solid. I am now a convert and P1 can be filed but not forgotten

I think it is brilliant

Yep - another happy camper; and trueSTIman has it right. STi8/PPP has got to be very special to be appreciably better, by which I mean so much better that the extra buzz is worth loadsa dosh (to trade up - remember, we don't have anything but speculation on sti8(UK)/PPP prices at the mo') to the average enthusiast. I've got a car that (IMHO) shades P1 except for looks (and I'm inside it at all relevant times), and it cost £2K less all up (mind you, I'd like a rear wash-wipe)

'Course I'd prefer less depreciation.... but I bought it for the buzz. And I've got good value for money The unmodded STi was fine, too, when I wanted to concentrate on pressing on: just it wasn't so good for relaxed driving when I wasn't in a hurry.

Read Deep Singhs "STi7 - Mistake" thread for a whole variety of views...

For some of the above.I never said 'my STi7 is rubbish'(Andy C) so please have the courtesy not to misquote me.I come on this board for some sensible fast car discussion with like minded individuals. This will sometimes include criticism of the car I and you drive, constructive and personal views are always welcome but purely defensive and reactionary ones are a little boring.
If you are enjoying the car I'm genuinely happy for you because like me I'm sure you work bloody hard for your money.I was just expressing my personal disappointments with the car which is just as valid as your satisfaction with it.I'm not having a dig at anybody.

Steady on, Deep, No-one has attributed the "STi7 is rubbish" remark to you! Far from it, you came up with a thoughtful comment about Subaru's model strategy, which generated thoughtful (usually) comment It's a different thread that got under some peoples' skin

Got mine before you, Steve Trust you like yours as much as I like mine

Every Subaru clutch I've ever had is prone to smell a bit hot if you engage reverse uphill (e.g. parking on a sloping street), and my STiUK is no exception. But PPP doesn't seem to have adversely affected my clutch [NB, though, I don't sidestep it LOL]

E-Mail me off board and tell me what you think of it.....

I shouldn't add to this thread but I can't resist it. Great car, turns heads everywhere I go. I get stopped at petrol stations by people who want to know whether the performance is as good as they have heard. Would I recommend they get one of they could lay their hands on one? Answer is always in the affirmative.

I have found the reaction of Jo Public to be pretty favourable everywhere I have been. Love it!

I love my STi Prodrive and aree with the comments about the look on peoples faces when you have let tham have a drive in it. I understood from my dealer that there were to be 1000 Sti buily for the UK market in total. I wonder how many are on this site.
